Young people no longer own computers. They only use their phone. For everything. As an employer of young people the only computer they may have ever used is at school a Chromebook which they gave back when they graduated. If they aren't in school they simply will never own a PC or mac again.

The PC gaming industry disagrees, though. Half the user base on Steam is < 29 years of age and younger (and they don't count ages younger than 18).

Even still, gaming on Linux has exploded, and Xbox has been enshittified beyond recognition, so M$ is losing on all fronts.

Steamdeck and others is helping those numbers a lot and I assume it will continue to rise.

Are there any accurate figures for stramdeck users? I don't know anyone who has one, but plenty who have gaming PCs.
