I know it doesn't but the original commenter that you were quoting obviously doesn't understand how Lemmy works and is equating the action of the devs and their moderation to the whole of Lemmy, that's why I used the word implies.

I'm not saying your point is wrong more pointing out that it is a bad thing that the lack of knowledge on how Lemmy works and operates between instances means that people who don't know presume that it applies for the entirety of Lemmy.

That's true (I am here after all), my point was that the Lemmy devs' tankie position is a liability for the growth of federated networks.

Not everyone is going to be spending time to understand the details and nuances.

For sure, apologies if you thought that was aimed at you :)

No worries ) Didn't think anything was aimed at me so to speak.

Cheers!

Wait wait two people on the Internet having a misunderstanding and then talking it out and ending on a positive note??? Never thought that was possible

Wholesome <3 I love this place

my point the Lemmy devs' tankie position is a liability for the growth of federated networks.

The responses to fundraising for Lemmy development recently is a perfect example of that

Lemmy under the current devs (especially Dessalines) will never see string growth.

Dessalines is too busy banning people for daring to say that North Korea has a bad government to do any coding.

Have to agree.

That .ml is so closely tied to development (and previously the first landing space) is problematic, there were a bunch of people asking if donations were purely to dev or if they supported the .ml servers at all as well, because they didnt want to provide any financial support to .ml.

And thats even aside from precisely the issue you mention.

I really think its one of the bigger reasons behind all the piefed support.
