The Rules

Posts must be:

  1. Links to news stories from...
  2. ...credible sources, with...
  3. ...their original headlines, that...
  4. ...would make people who see the headline think, “That has got to be a story from The Onion, America’s Finest News Source.”

Please also avoid duplicates.

Comments and post content must abide by the server rules for Lemmy.world and generally abstain from trollish, bigoted, or otherwise disruptive behavior that makes this community less fun for everyone.

And that’s basically it!

We needed a national online govt forum where we could sue for freedom of speech violations by mods etc. Unfortunately our government lacks leadership or progressives so

I'm picturing a discord-like server run by USPS and boooooooooy what a cluster fuck that would be

(Mostly because of the users, but also because of the way the current and previous administrations have repeatedly hamstrung USPS)

I more mean something organized like Reddit or Lemmy, with multiple aids for translating into other languages and disability access and allowing for an audio mode or text mode. Eg instead of going to my city's Reddit, I'll go to their actual official forum page. Instead of viewing my rep's stupid Twitter, I can view their actual offical forum account.

And yeah it'll be a fucking mess, legal nightmare, and expensive. But we need it as much as we need the post office and everything else.

I agree, it's a necessary clusterfuck. But a clusterfuck indeed.
