Bur Ukraine has been a part of Russia since ancient times! Just look at this ancient map that we won't allow anyone but state controlled experts to date!

I hate the rhetoric of "it's been a part of our civilization since ancient times" so much because what land was and wasn't part of your culture a thousand years ago means nothing to modern society. Otherwise we'd be constantly having to redraw maps every few seconds after another country magically discovers some "evidence" that they now own their neighboring country.
