Abolishing workers rights to keep your slaves working makes sense in a greedy fucked up way, but I've never understood the anti-vax stuff. Like, it costs the oligarchs virtually nothing and keeps their workers working and consumers consuming. How exactly does this flavor of vile evilness benefit anyone?

For RFK Jr in particular: I honestly think the man is a true believer. He is, among other things, a dangerous idiot who doesn't understand how much harm he's causing.

For conservatives in general: Republican policies broadly fall into two categories.

  1. Things that further the interests of the ownership class.

  2. Horrible slop to appeal to the most stupid and evil single issue voters imaginable.

You want me to make sure they teach the Bible in public schools? Yeah, sure. Whatever. As long as I get to privatize, de-regulate, and cut corporate taxes.

It undermines the bottom tiers of Maslow's hierarchy of needs and keeps everyone focused purely on survival so they can never organise and revolt. It has two "benefits" in this regard - 1) if you're always tired and fighting long COVID or other conditions (thanks to COVID's ability to damage the immune system), you won't have the energy to push back against authoritarianism, and 2) it helps foster division between people since the need to avoid getting sick will prompt some to avoid riskier situations (e.g. large social gatherings, etc.).

Also drives business for healthcare providers. Everyone wants long-term, desperate customers with no alternatives with inelastic demand(will pay anything). It's the entire US healthcare model.

not exactly, they want to healthy non-insurance using customers, chronically ill people are costly to insurance companies, they rather not insure them,. its the pharm companies that would benefit from chronically ill patients.

chronically ill people cuts into the profits the insurance companies alot more. thats why they always price out older customers, or the chronically ill ones.
