Hypothesis: AI is being hyped so much because it will render ad blockers useless.
At this point, almost everybody I know uses ChatGPT for every question they have. Once extensive trust has been built, ChatGPT will start recommending highest-bidder brand names and it will become just another ad machine.
it already does recommend the highest bidders. it's trained on the entire internet, so it will recommend companies who put the most into advertising/SEO.
