I asked grok About a simple cam thats at least as good as the cams of iPhone 15 pro and/or the latest Google pixel Models.

I just want quick unprofessional photos that still Look nice and Detailed.

He recommended to to me the following Models and I Need yalls opinion:

  • Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III
  • Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II
  • Panasonic Lumix ZS200 (TZ200)

To be honest I wanted something below 500โ‚ฌ but I guess I have to reach deeper into my pockets for something nice. Do yall think its worth paying quite a bit more? Or would yall Not pay much more for a nice compact cam?

If you have other recommendations please do throw them into Discussion!

Edit: sheesh i forgot this is lemmy with all the anti ai stuff. In any case I understand the hate but can we please just focus on the matter at Hand?

Please don't use Grok. That's just supporting Musk.

Also, why would you ask an AI if you were going to ask people anyway?

Cmon, now you are just being mean.

Ai was used just for insights. Asking here is among the 'proper' due diligence.

I just don't understand why someone would willingly add an unecessary middleman. Just ask the Internet directly, no need to run it through a word prediction algorithm based on input from the Internet.

I dont understand whats the issue with getting more than 1 source of Info? Especially when half the replies on this thread are either dont use ai or Stick to a smartphone even though i asked for Camera recommendations specifically.. (Not saying they dont have their Place ofc but cmon)

Admittedly the other source of Info does Not have to be ai but can we just forget that for a Moment? This post is Not about ai and honestly i shouldnt even have mentioned to have used grok in the First Place atp

Well are there Alternatives with similar capablities as grok? I just decided its worth a try.

I ask people and ai to collect Info. Why I used grok even though I ask around Here now? I wanted to try it out for research purposes

They're all the same and most of their answers are complete horseshit. Don't give in to this shit, it makes you lose your ability to discern truth from lies. It's just another tool to turn people into mindless, propaganda-gobbling zombies.

Anyhow, if you want quick photos that look good without additional editing, then phones are likely your best bet. I'm not aware of compact cameras that have the kind of computing power and enhancement algorithms on board. I don't like the kind of photos iPhones makez but you'll fool most people with the pictures you take on an iPhone. There are also quite a few good android phones.

Mirrorless cameras are the way to go if you want to change lenses but that'll be way over the budget you set yourself. Even the a6400 costs a small fortune when paired with a good lens or two, and that's really the beginner's segment. Then you need good software for developing the raw photos and that's a hobby itself.

im as much of a tin foil hat guy as everyone Here but your First paragraph reeks of conspiracy theorist bs. The last sentence at the very least.

Appreciate your other insights though!

Not really. People stop analyzing problems via critical thinking because things are becoming too convenient. Just look at social media. It's so easy to access information, people stop analyzing the data and blindly believe things that they're fed via the algorithms. These algorithms highly favor controversial material because it boosts visibility of ads. This wasn't always the case. It became this way because it's an easy way to make money. Now that money isn't enough, it's abused for political power.

For now LLMs might seem like a good tool, but if people lose the ability to do their own research, what stops them from believing just about anything an LLM bot tells them? Remember how grok turned into a Nazi bot? That wasn't very long ago...

It just takes one generation to completely lose this ability. Don't take it so lightly please. At least try to keep yourself mentally aware of potential problems with tech. Especially since almost all of the tech is owned by Nazi cunts.
