I'm probably one of those and I apologize for it. I try to refrain from pointing out the flaw in some of those "uplifting news" but sometimes, people are missing some information that makes these not so uplifting after all.
Like, I recently commented on that community about the Pacific plastic patch on its way to be cleaned. It's good news, IF you don't consider the fact that there are four other patches.
Maybe I should block those communities and let them be. "Ignorance is bliss" after all. Them and me.
Those garbage patches have been there for years though. It's not like the plastic in the Pacific patch is just getting shuttled to the other patches.
The existence of other plastic patches doesn't detract from the positive impact of cleaning up the Pacific patch
That's definitely an example of the attitude I'm talking about.
Even considering there are four others, the fact that one is getting cleaned should mean there is hope for the others.
How does the fact that there are 5 patches make it not good news that we're getting started on one of them?
I have my doubts about whether they'll actually get the funding to get it off the ground, but that's a different matter.
