Idk most famous but to me "German music" contains:
Uhhhh fuck I know I'm forgetting some..
Heidevolk, AFAIK, doesn’t have a song in German though. They sing in Dutch and sometimes English
Which is the odd part lol. Idk why I associate them with Germany, but I'm sure my brain has a reason.
I do believe they are more popular and do more shows outside of the Netherlands, so probably in Germany as well. That could be it
Alphaville were German, IIRC. Their song Forever Young was huge in Europe
Wasn't Scorpion also German?
