Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Can you imagine how the right would react if this was done by a dem president? They may have actually started a civil war over it.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 75 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The article has a quote that literally blames this on Biden and Obama.

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 66 points 3 days ago (2 children)

God damn people are fucking stupid.

"Twenty-four years after foreign nationals trained in our flight schools flew planes into our buildings, our leaders are inviting their financiers to train inside our bases. This is what happens when you gut national-security training, scrub every mention of Islam, jihad, and Sharia from the manuals, and let Obama- and Biden-era bureaucrats turn counterterrorism into cultural sensitivity class. We’re being led by officials who no longer recognize or refuse to name the enemy they’re inviting into our own backyard."

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 33 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oh "name the enemy" is a terrifying dogwhistle

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago

Nah its the Austrians. They keep insisting they don't have kangaroos but this picture I found of Hitler riding a kangaroo says otherwise. They will remain the enemy until I can enjoy a traditional oktoberfest, koala and all!

I've always said that the best folk music comes from the Dutch

Radar love is a classic.

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago

Not hard to figure out since they immeditaly before referred to Islam etc. being scrubbed lol

[–] smh@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 days ago

Ack, I keep reading that as

We’re being led by officials who no longer [recognize] or [refuse to name] the enemy they’re inviting into our own backyard.

And I'm thinking "wait, which is it? Are you upset the officials no longer recognize the enemy or because they no longer refuse to name the enemy?"

I get what they're trying to say, but it's not clearly stated.

Wasn’t there a conspiracy theory about Obama or something opening foreign military base on US soil?

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 51 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Jade Helm, back in '14/'15 was a massive military training exercise across the Southwest. We'd been saber rattling across North Africa and the Middle East for ages, so this was larger than normal but not inconsistent with US foreign policy. Just another day in the paradise of the imperial core.

But Republican influencers and spokesdorks jumped on it as an actual invasion of the territory being practiced over. Then several of the state governors chimed in, demanding that Obama halt his occupation of their states. We had a big rash of "Should Texas be allowed to secede?!" discourse. Obama issued an apology or some dumb shit. Republicans declared victory. Yadda yadda.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 28 points 3 days ago (2 children)

"Should Texas be allowed to secede?!"

Yes. Please go. Soon.

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Texas should be forced to secede.

Yeah idk it's a bit used and Cruz'd now.

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 19 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Mate, your civil war has already begun. Most of you don’t realize it yet though, but you will soon enough.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 28 points 3 days ago

Minor correction.

It never ended. It just went cold in 1865.

Oh, I’m very aware…. It’s unfortunate, but a long time coming.

"Obama is Muslim and wants a Muslim invasion and wants Sharia law!!1!"

[–] troybot@midwest.social 12 points 3 days ago (3 children)

For so long every accusation has been an a confession. Somehow I completely missed that Trump is a secret Muslim.

[–] MajorasTerribleFate@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Has anyone checked his birth certificate? Was he born in Africa?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Donald Trump was born in Queens. To folks from Manhattan that may as well be Africa....

[–] yeather@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

He does act like an Ottoman Emperor.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Ironically, they are this close >< to starting one anyway.
