My heart just sank reading the headline… fuck.

Fuck Biden and the rest of the US congress. Bunch of spineless assholes and cowards.

What father/brother/kid isn’t going to join Hamas if they lose their families to these unforgivable acts.

[–] sirboozebum@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I, for one, support this bombing.

Those babies didn't denounce Hamas enough before they bled to death. All they did was cry.

Just shameless.

/s (because last time I did this, people took it seriously)

It's only because there are legit lunatics out there saying the same thing but without sarcasm.

[–] sirboozebum@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

You mean spokesmen for the IDF?

[–] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Don’t let it overwhelm you. There’s only so much we can do. I posted a story last week of a 3 year old girl that died with her father, in his arm. Just surreal. Vote. Write your Congressman. Love your family and friends. That’s all we can do.

Voting is great and all, but we literally have the choice between the guy helping fund these atrocities, and the guy trying to destroy democracy.

Just vote third party? That's just a throw away vote for one party. THIS is the problem with a two-party system.

Unfortunately, there are too many major hurdles to go over (two party system, electoral college, gerrymandering, lobbying, just to name a few) before we even have a chance at something resembling justice, here or abroad.

At least you’re asking the correct questions. Let us know if you find the correct answers. Because I don’t have any. Organize, communicate, stay informed?

All of those issues go away if we switch to ranked choice voting. Literally all of them. One change and we're free of this horrible corprotocracy/oligarchy.

Which is why it will never happen, sadly. The wealthy will lose all their influence and power in a single change. They'll "scorched earth" this shit before they let that happen.

The problem is the majority vote system. Only the votes for the winning party in a district actually do something, it doesn't really matter whether the district is lost 49 against 51 or 0 against 100.

That’s what I’ve been telling my friends and myself but hard to keep perspective when my congressman went to Israel to “show support for Israel’s defense” and not a single thought or word to these dead kids.

Thanks for the kind words though.

A friend called our congressman and his office told him to talk to Hamas.

Shitty remarks from a Republican bastard, but also interesting to have their 'official' stance be for their constituents to consort with terrorists.

Send them Rashida Tlaib’s Speech while being censured.

If you think that Biden has ANY control over Netanyahu, you are as stupid as any common MAGAot.

The ONLY thing that will reign in Netanyahu is the US suspending funding and that will NEVER happen as long as the US MAGA/evangelical right wing believes that funding the destruction of Palestine will FINALLY to bring about the Armageddon they are so anxious to have happen.

Perhaps, Just Perhaps, we should STOP letting people that want to bring about the end of the world (which according to the bible, "no man can cause or predict") be in charge of ANYTHING AT ALL that affects anyone but themselves?

[–] generalpotato@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

The irony of you calling me “stupid” without understanding how an elected President, admin and political party can influence domestic and foreign policy….

Lol.
