Jumping between radio channels trying to find one that's playing the new hit song
Trying to record said song on tape without having the host talk over it
song starts playing AND NEXT WE HAVE [SONG] FROM [ARTIST]
That was an art form.
I think my favorite scene in That Thing You Do! is when they're all doing that, waiting to hear their song play, and then dancing around when it plays.
