This is literally because the US does not officially recognize Palestine as a sovereign state. If they were to call it Palestine, they would be undermining the government’s stance. That doesn’t mean they agree with it, in fact her slipping on it could be a sign she personally disagrees with the government’s stance. However the feds have never formally recognized it as a state and for them to do so publicly would put their jobs in jeopardy.

Not agreeing with any of it, just wanted to make sure the reason this is happening is clear.

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't realize we were doing the "Taiwan is Greater China" thing as well.

It's worth noting that the US does recognize the Palestinian National Authority as the leader of the Palestinian territories, and the Palestinian Libertarian Organization as the leader of the Palestinian people

It's just the country "Palestine" that is not recognized.

Wikipedia sums it up well:

It was a nice laugh to see China as one of the countries which officially recognizes Palestine as a sovereign state.

Did you know America doesn't recognize Tiwan as its own country but as a part of China?

Yeah, kinda weird that they don't recognize either country but can still say one of their names but not the other. I wonder why that is...

The One China policy doesn't say it's part of China (PRC). It's acknowledging that there is one "China", and both Taiwan and China are part of it, but it doesn't say if Taiwan (ROC) is China and PRC is part of it, or if China (PRC) is China and Taiwan is part of it.
