I literally don't know the difference. I see so many different political affiliations. Would either of these people be considered liberals? Honest question.
Depends on how you're used to using 'liberal'. By the US usage of liberal ("anyone who is not a conservative or reactionary"), both of these are liberals. But leftists often object to the term, using liberal in an older (and to some degree, more international) sense to mean supporters of market economies.
Us liberals like the aesthetics of the international definition, which is why they coopt it even though they disregard the most relevant distinction
