Normally a rower faces the stern of the boat. Which is happening here

The prow is in the right place near the bow. I can’t tell what way it’s facing with people on all sides of the table. Pointing the bow rather than rounding it would probably have made it less awkward.

Maybe the artist made it a nonsense ship on purpose as part of the commentary
