So apparently child protection have taken note of the troubles they caused and have decided I'll be spending the next week at a hotel. Odd decision, seems cheaper to just move the new one out and then everyone would be better off, but I'm not going to complain. It seems like a flashy one and has an indoor gym.

I get to escape the chaos of this place and the weird workers they've put here (that's a whole other rant, but some rando who refuses to talk to you sleeping on your couch is kind of uncomfortable). And if I put a water jug in my fridge, it won't go missing!

I ran a short story competition at some schools for the kids to win copies of my books and I'm reading through the entries today and man, kids are morbid. It's kind of funny how wild their imaginations get.

And one of them had a genuinely sad and depressing ending. It was a story about a girl and her mum and it mentions she doesn't know where he dad is and how she wishes she had a sister and then bed creatures attack her and kill her mum and she runs away but theres more monsters and she runs back into the house and lays on her bed ending it with 'why should I save myself. I've lost everything I've loved.'

The winter solstice is in 2 days. On one hand, sad, but on the other, things will only be on the up and up for the next 6 months

Just got rid of a whole lotta concrete at the tip. Nearly died when they were trying to charge $151. Got it for $31.50 instead.

But that was very satisfying throwing it on the pile, loud noises breaking shit. Threw one bit up the top of the pile and caused an impressive concrete avalanche.

But jeez the matress disposal area.. most of those were better than mine.

I'm going to bed tonight at 10:30 and I'm going to shut my eyes and not be tempted to use my phone.

Today's society seems to consist of an awful lot of whinging over either current or historical matters.

At some point whinging needs to turn into action.

aargh, my local optician couldn't fix my glasses, after half an hour of mild cussing seems rayban uses unique screws for their frames and they don't stock rayban. Couldn't even wire the hinge as it's a concealed screw hole. These were fairly expensive.

It's too much of a bleah day, and the second night in a row I can't use my shower because the landlord messed up their emails telling me it was gonna get re-caulked or something yesterday (and I just rolled over and said OK even though I had basically zero notice and can't use my shower for 36 hours). Too peopled out to ask a friend to use theirs. Just retreating to bed with a cuppa and a pitiful mood and gonna have a yarn to my auntie interstate to feel a bit more at ease

Gotta love it when your children start making dinner. Almost seems worth it. Almost.

Weather has cleared to a beautiful day but it's doing very little to dent my absolute disdain for humankind today. Greedy, shortsighted, self-absorbed, no thoughts for anything other than their own convenience and comfort. So many of our species don't deserve planet Earth. I truly wish I could send a good chunk of people off to another planet with no pesky insects, grass, trees, water courses, and other such outrageously offensive items, and they can live surrounded entirely in man made constructs and sheer rock.

So I'm watching YouTubers that are travelling in northern Australia. At one particular site (Tom Price Tourist Park) they paid 80 dollars at a campsite for the privilege of pitching a tent.

In many SE Asia countries you could get a very nice 4 star hotel room for that price, usually with a nice breakfast included.

And people wonder why folks don't do tourism in Australia.

I dropped a 1kg tub of greek yoghurt onto the kitchen tiles. So much yoghurt. Should've stayed in bed.

It's -1.9 here. Feels like -3.8. No thank you. The cat has jumped into bed with me and neither of us are moving any time soon.

My brown fat is generating so much heat this morning but I'm still putting 2 sheets of toilet paper on the toilet seat before jumping on to ease the pain. I know it's wasteful but we must do what we can to survive this icy blast.

When I'm alone upstairs at work and so can crunch on my food as loudly as I like without feeling guilty, yisssss. Eating pork crackle, so not hard to get a very loud crunch happening.

So so cold. So cold. I have to go outside todaaaay. Whyyyy

It's 0.4 degrees here, and the BOM app says it's feels like -3.2 ❄️
