Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

Dip in the temperature in the South of the South Island today, down to 2C overnight with frost this morning.

[-] sortofblue@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

No frost here but it's squally and bitterly cold. I feel sorry for the college kids wandering about in shorts or skirts.

It it just me, or is it annoying when someone has scheduled a Zoom meeting for 11am... but it's 10:57 and they still haven't sent the link?

[-] flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

That's gotta be embarrassing for them!!

"Why is nobody here?" And all that

[-] SamC@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe, although they specifically said they were going to send the link a few minutes beforehand (not sure why they couldn't send it earlier!)

[-] middleman35@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

Saying you're only sending the link a few minutes beforehand is already a red flag that they don't value your time and/or have control issues

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 year ago

Is it a zoom meeting if there's no zoom link?

Good morning! Winds getting a bit gusty again in the tron. Hope it’s a little better where everyone else is.

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

Not too bad down Wellington way but not as warm as I'd like.

[-] eagleeyedtiger@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

Doesn’t feel too cold here today luckily.

The doors on the little seedling greenhouse I was putting together yesterday was banging in the wind at 3am and I had to get up to move it, then the baby woke up at 4am. Just a bit extra tired this morning.

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

Haha oh boy can I relate. Except for me it's normally the door of the BBQ banging in the wind. And luckily our kids don't wake up in the night all too often, but one will wake up in the early hours of the morning a couple of days a week.

Not sure how reassuring it is saying it gets better, but not that much better.

We have a primary school aged kid as well, so we've been through it before awhile ago. But I guess we forgot how tiring babies were haha. or maybe we're just getting older :(

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah I'm not sure there will ever be a time again that I'm not tired.

[-] sylverstream@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

It does get better... But different. I used to sleep until 9am or sometimes 11am. Now I wake up at 7am sometimes 8am. Our kids are now 7 and 10 and hardly wake up in the night, and in the morning they will play / read on their own without waking us up.

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

Yes the older ones do that, so I guess having a 3 year old still makes it hard. But now we have one that wakes up early and two that don't want to get up but need to for school.

[-] sylverstream@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

I once read a nice saying: "not for a million dollar I want another kid, but not for a million dollar they can take away my kids." I love them, but sometimes I really don't want to be a dad anymore :)

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah I can relate to that. We recently had all the kids go to visit their grandmother for a night. It was the first time since the first one was born that we had a kid free night. I think we slept for 12 hours straight.

The southerly was a bit rough biking in this morning

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

Hopefully you'll get a boost on the way home!

Going to see Oppenheimer tomorrow, really looking forward to it.

It's only been out a day, so I might not get a response, but has anyone seen it yet? What did you think?

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

I've been waiting for someone to reply to you but I guess no one has seen it. Here's a review thread I found: https://lemmy.nz/post/478994

Highly rated by critics. Well, except this one:

What I can say for sure is that “Oppenheimer” far too often feels like a three-hour Wikipedia entry than a compelling movie.

So set your expectations accordingly 🙂

Brilliant, thankyou! Will have a look through.
