hexabear folks have been keeping their sad tissue list of kamala for years, they claim.

"we" just haven't been paying attention to "them"

[–] figjam@midwest.social 32 points 1 year ago (21 children)

They really do find everything 'problematic' don't they?

[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 25 points 1 year ago (7 children)

I don't wish them ill will, I just think the whole idea of their instance and community is just... is it satire maybe?

is it a big joke I don't get? I dunno but they're way worse than lemmy grad. at least lemmy grad has an ethos.

It's astro-turfed to hell. If you can bend your political opponents views to serve your purpose you have effectively turned a -1 to a +1. They also do your dirty work by sowing infighting and reaping dissatisfaction.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do you have any evidence of this?

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Do you have evidence that I'm not in on it? I've penetrated the deepest levels of the russian strike force and can tell you word for word what the leaders of this insurgency is doing at any moment.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So no, you don't have evidence it's astro-turfed, gotcha. Why lie, then?

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (5 children)

How am I lying? You don't have any evidence saying I'm not an insider.

hexabear

Do you mean the tankie instance hexbear or do you mean the compounding of six bears? 🤔

Yeah, super cereal!

[–] Red_October@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

We don't actually know how many bears the tankies are comprised of, but 6 does seem to fit the data. So basically it can be both.

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Their argument is that it's not about the candidate but the party it represents, the issues are of the party so any lider won't do.

And if anyblider won't do, their opinion doesn't matter in this context so you can like ignore them.

We have told you, our viewing audience, virtually nothing at all about the vice-president for three years, even though we are supposed to be... you know... "the news".

Now here's a reality television-style data dump on top of you, out of the blue and with a shrill emotional tone to it, even though we are supposed to be... you know... "the news".

One can detect the obvious mechanism of political infotainment a little more clearly when they have to stop midway and change the cartridge. Or maybe it's more like the grind of a sausage factory.

Horse race reporting must be fed

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It was bad enough when it was just cable news networks fighting for ratings. Now that engagement-first feeds are involved we have hundreds of billions of dollars dependent on making sure people are as ~~upset~~ "engaged" as possible.

If we just said no campaigning before the second Tuesday in August we'd eliminate a lot wrong with our politics. Suddenly you don't need to raise billions of dollars to be president because there's no way to spend it all in that amount of time. The cost to purchase other seats goes down similarly.

I like your suggestion, except I'd go with October. September at the earliest. This all year every year election season bullshit has to go.

Oh yeah! She's a happy and upbeat person, I remember now. Disgusting.

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 18 points 1 year ago

Isn't she already the VP with the most tie breaking votes cast in the Senate?

I mean you could just report facts but why not introduce drama?

High on my own drama?
