Obviously the real solution is never talking to anyone ever again, instead living as a hermit in remote mountains with your only friend being a bear that tries to eat you several times a year
My autistic ass feels called out! :)
The trick is to tell no one until you have something substantial worth sharing :)
This is actually really, really good advice for adhd people. Telling people your goals gives you a dopamine hit like actually completing the goal does, so it makes your brain less likely to continue since it already got it's fix.
My lack of self-confidence means I will tell no one then
Exactly. Or never at all because you know eventually the obsession will fizzle out.
Or you'll have to explain and realize you don't know
Yeah like when I made a binder full of geothermal information and half baked ideas that probably already existed, only to never touch it again 2 months later...
Why does energy go away when you more need it to finish what you have started, dammit.
Because telling people about your goals gives you a similar dopamine hit as actually completing them, so it makes you less motivated to finish.
3 years ago I decided to try making a SpaceX DVD (for fun) with most important milestones. I just needed to add end chapters for proper behavior on DVD players and 1 video. Also fix colors on one titleset menu.
I gave up on it. It's mostly finished, but I gave up. It is the only reason I still keep the dusty Windows 10 installation on my laptop. I didn't know DVDStyler also works on Linux, and migrating the files would be too much hassle.
But maybe, later...
Edit: Fixed the date. Apparently 2020 was 3 years ago...
Same with a little game I made with unity. Only need to fix a couple of stuff and do a nice UI.
Well now I would need to redo it with Godot.
Or making a joke that implies knowledge of a subject. Then everyone thinks it's your passion when it was just a prior obsession.
I SWEAR I DONT LIKE DND GUYS I JUST KNOW THE RULESET Explaining that is borderline impossible lol
Nah. I just say. Yeah that was a dead end. But now I discovered this new thing that…
I’ve had so many hobbies, sadly I know the feeling well.
Anyone want a battery operated coin sorter?
