Holy moly, I got a 92 on my last assignment. That is a pleasant surprise.

[-] Nath@aussie.zone 9 points 3 months ago

Wait - the guy who writes books is good at writing assignments? Who could have predicted this plot twist?

Help yourself 🚚

[-] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

I'll grab this 🀧πŸ₯– sneezed on baguette in a go bag πŸ‘œ just in case I need a sick day myself soon.

[-] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Hope you feel better soon. Here’s some brandy which will help if it’s an upset tum (or so my mum used to say). It will at least distract you for a bit if nothing else πŸ₯ƒπŸ’

I just saw you have a cold - brandy will definitely help with that

On the train last night some guy kept sneezing next to me without covering his mouth and now I'm sick.

I went to the office and let my manager know and she said to go home. Which was really nice.

Teams meetings all day tomorrow anyway, just didn't want to be away from work. The difference between sectors is dramatic.

[-] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 9 points 3 months ago

I got up and walked away from someone on the ferry who kept coughing wetly. I can only hope she was recovering from something, but I was not taking the risk.

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

I'm still piiiiiiiiised about when my expensive trip to Mildura was ruined by some lady who was coughing all weekend. I think I ended up with a combination of food poisoning and the cold while stranded hundreds of KMs from home in almost the middle of nowhere.

sickThrowing up into a rubbish bag on a bus is not good. Fucking horrendous experience.

[-] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 8 points 3 months ago

I still see far too much of this in public, and it makes me mad, especially as someone who hasn't been able to work for the past week from covid. Some people either learnt nothing from the last few years or simply don't give a damn and it shows.

[-] StudChud@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Fkn ferals! Crawling all over the trains and trams, coughing and snuffling, wiping their faces with their hands and smearing it everywhere like angry monkeys throwing their shit.

Why don't the Geneva Conventions on Biological Warfare extend to the common disease-ridden citizen?

Don't even get me started on buses.

[-] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 14 points 3 months ago

Rejected for a job because I was basically too good (?), but they've invited me to apply for a more senior role coming up next month. Not really sure what to do with this information.

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 10 points 3 months ago

at which point they'll tell you that you don't have enough experience for the senior role. Why? Cause they're fuckers.

Least thats my experience.

I care so little for US politics and I am already tired of hearing about that train wreck, despite actively avoiding it. I can't escape it I figured it must be close to the election so I googled it.

We got another 3 months of this.

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

I was absolutely here prior to "the change" and now I'm all here for it. It went from "good guys gonna get smashed" to "Holy shit good guys are gonna win and bad guys gonna get their asses kicked". Love a come from behind story.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago

I loved the Olympics even more because of this. 2 weeks of barely hearing about it was bliss.

Office is less busy than usual toi

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

I've had 2 meetings that have dragged like you wouldnt believe which really isnt helping! "Ok if there isnt any more questions.....?" "Oh, I've got one!" Bro how about you sit down and shut the f up. You dont need 15 of us in this meeting to ask this question.

Hullo from Auckland!! Spent the day trying surprisingly mediocre wine with a group of fun people from right across the globe! I am surprisingly exhausted!

Miniest testing negative for covid πŸ’ͺ🏼 my test still very faintly positive. Mr P's test still strongly positive and he is spewin' about it. The first to get it and spread it to us is still positive, he really thought he'd be in the clear by now. But he's the oldest and a smoker, which I think must be a factor in his slow recovery? Ran out of tests so will have to test Elder when the ones I ordered arrive this arvo.

Edit: Elder minipeeler has tested negative! I'm sooo relieved!

[-] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago

There was some silly article years ago about how being a smoker (tobacco or weed) could help against covid.

I called bullshit and I'm pretty sure it's been disproven too lol. Guarantee you his smoking is prolly why it's harder for him to get over it (as a flip-flopping quitter)

Shout out to my goodest girl: the Staffy X Kelpie. I'm trying a new walking technique to reduce the pulling cause its all gotten a bit shit since kiddo joined us. She was always the better of the 2 dogs but with the new technique she had it dialed in within like 5 minutes. She was a nightmare on a lead when we got her so to see the progress she has made was just been awesome.

The other dog we wont be talking about here.

I've caught the today-is-dragging-itis bug. Far out I'm soooo done for the day. Bleurgh. I have to do a stupid employee goals thing too. urrrghghvbggvbfgj

Also really sleepy as I was up late helping a mate with their job application. It was actually my dream job, but I'm not in a position to have such a big change right now... and I think this person is a better candidate anyway. Certainly makes me think of where I could be in the future though

s2g if they wanted to fix the state deficit, put fucking ticket cops on chesterville road. The number of defects and speeding fines would buy us a whole new rail system.

hmm, what does it mean when your site/capital improved value goes down in rates ?

[-] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago

New neighbours - of the kind our Baku knows all too well. Or possibly the site has been re-classified as flood-prone or similar.

I struggled to get home this afternoon. I kept wanting to fall asleep as I was driving home.

Made it home through had a wash then flopped on my bed and fell asleep until now.

I think my blanket last night was too warm for me so I’m going to change it out for a few days as it’s been warmer.

Anyway making some garlic bread now.

Hungry!

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago

I've reheated some frozen pasta with sauce

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago

That sounds really yummy.

[-] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

It's nice to be able to dry stuff on the clothesline.

[-] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago

It so is, I've been putting a load out when my MIL isn't in the backroom of her place (which is where the back door is). Unfortunately she usually sits there so it limits me to before she gets up or when she has her afternoon nap.

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

So tired today so I took the day off. Allergies I think, my terrace is covered in pollen dust and my nose tickles as soon as I go out there.

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago

I have a sore throat and a headache. Fun times. Plus side I guess is that I don't have anything on till this Arvo, so I can do a sleep in. But I got absorbed into a the YouTube "documentary" about YouTube drama. Oddly fascinating. Like watching a train wreck

I'd be embarrassed as hell if the talk of the Brisbane Olympics was US celebrities. Just saying.

To balance last weeks good luck getting third in line at the food market, today I got third last. I ended up with three parsnips so will have to do lots of roast vegie dishes. Also a leek and some potatoes, which would be much better news if it was still soup weather.

Had a wild dream last night. I went to the shops to buy eggs, but they only had fancy ones that were $60 per dozen. I declined to buy them
