Or dad found mom's stash of special mushrooms in the back of the cupboard and made carbonara out of them one night.

Uh, yeah, Season 02 Episode 666.

[-] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago

It had seasons!?

[-] Tagger@lemmy.world 61 points 1 week ago

I mean, with all the elsagate stuff, of he was watching on YouTube it's somewhat believable

[-] ICastFist@programming.dev 8 points 1 week ago

Only slightly, anon would have to add "mom didn't even bother to rewind the video a bit"

This is like, every creepypasta based on a TV show. "But then they all stared at me with hyper-realistic eyes with hyper-realistic blood coming out of them and they threatened to hyper-realistically kill me. When I asked my mom she said I was watching TV static"

Not to be too much of an old man, but I do feel like the total digitalization of the world has sucked a lot of the scary mystery out of these things. Analog TV was spooky stuff! Local stations and public access led to some wild people getting on air. Depending on where you lived and how good your signals were, you could also pick up over the air pirate broadcasts or the ghostly partial images of the premium cable channels your parents couldn't afford. Was that a nipple you just saw... or a ghost?!

Eh my childhood anxiety created some terrible phobias and imaginations of horrible stuff. Nothing gorey, but stuff like bananas had flesh eating bacteria, the mirror version of me was trying to kill me, and there were small people living in my walls and eyes that I need to stay quiet or they would hear me. Completely nonsensical, but it was my child-brain trying to justify my intense anxiety.

Compare with genuinely creative what-the-fuckery, like nightmares of a wild adult Teletubby with a full rack of antlers.

If anything I would call it overrated. It startet out great but got mediocre over the later seasons. Definitely doesn't deserve the 8.5 stars rating it has on Imdb

[-] ryannathans@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Why do you feel it got mediocre? I feel it just kept building

[-] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

I wanted to like it SO HARD but I found the writing and acting cringy from the start. I can’t understand why it’s so beloved. I powered through a season but it just felt so… forced? My partner felt the same way. I don’t get it.

[-] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

I finished the finale last night and wow what a show. Can’t believe I just this year learned about it.

[-] ryannathans@aussie.zone 1 points 1 week ago

Thoughts? Does it make you want to watch it again?

[-] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I just watched all 4 seasons for the first time. I would watch again but not now that show is intense. But I loved it. It kept going bigger and deeper. After the first season I wondered what else is there to cover. Oh boy there’s lots
