My digital library isn’t going anywhere. It’s all on hard drives I have control over.

Make sure you have an off-site backup or it, too, will one day poof out of existence!

Man this game and it's sequel were so good. We're they the best writing or gameplay I ever saw? No. But the creators had a distinct and beautiful vision and they saw it through to the end. Really sad to hear this, but yeah, this is why Streaming Gaming Platforms need to offer the Download And Play Offline feature. You bought it, it's yours. If you copy it and illegally distribute that, that's your prerogative. But ultimately, that's for you to decide, not the Gaming Platforms.

Available on Steam, no itchy scratches.

Edit on looking at the down votes..this is a recommended game of mine you should give a try, a game I love.

I think the down votes are because the post is ultimately about the reliance on online libraries being flawed, which steam certainly is. Honestly, it often feels like steam will be around until the heat death of the universe, but alas I always figure I'm good though at piracy that all my purchases are essentially a donation, anyway.

That said, I think I heard that they have a policy that if it were to come to that, any files made local on your machine are yours and can still play them. Might be tricky if it's drm and they go poof, though.

I surely understand, I dread the day Steam gets sold off to some investment conglomerate, I juat liked playing and focused on Oxenfree.

Everone on pc only able to buy digital nowadays so yeah…

All good. Also I'll look into that game, I think I got a copy at some point. It's the kind of thing I think I'd like.

GOG or TPB, anything else is just extended renting

Why was it even there? Looks like a premium indie and not a short experimental project. Also itch io has no DRM, just backup the installer like you keep your cds.

There are a lot of "bigger" indie games on itch.io. Celeste, Jotun and Super Hot come to mind.
