I know it may seem dumb. But I can see the potential of Steam Deck regarding VR. I absolutely hate the VR headsets nowadays for being proprietary. I myself isn't a VR gamer, but it would be great to see Linux on VR.

It's nowhere near strong enough. My wet dream setup is Steam Deck 2 supporting eGPU and a wireless VR headset.

You need a very high resultion display for each eye to make VR enjoyable. The steam deck is built with basically 720p in mind. A VR headset like the index has more than 4 times the resolution, and also needs to put out >100Hz to not make it a very rough experience. So sadly, unless its for some very basic games, VR on the steam deck is not super likely to happen.

Steam has a headset right now. I am keeping watch for the next generation because its a bit old in the tooth atm.
