Absolute tragedy to see. I would go to war for our Khan, as she has for us.

Furious about this! Great effing job Dems! Infuriating how bad they screwed us all!

[-] JeffKerman1999@sopuli.xyz 12 points 2 weeks ago

Really? It's the Dems fault? Or it the average American voter's fault? This was all written in trump's project 2025 and everyone was warned about it. People voted for it, fuck'em

is it easier to change the minds and view of 11,000,000 people or is it easier to change the minds and views of the handful of people running the Harris campaign?

[-] BlitzoTheOisSilent@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's the Dems fault.

Their constituents wanted progressive policies, they wanted change, and when asked what Harris would change or do differently from Biden in her administration, she said "Nothing."

Their constituents asked them to meet in the middle on the Palestinian genocide, and they were told there was no compromise, fascism/democracy was on the line and it was too important, etc.

And then the Dems began trying to court Republican votes, began parading Republicans alongside themselves at campaign rallies, all while moving further center-right and aligning closer to Biden's centrist policies.

The Dems told their voters they were unwilling or unable to compromise on the policies the electorate wanted, but then extended their hand across the aisle and called for Republican support, while compromising on the already-barely-left policies Harris had and making them closer to the center...

And the voters stayed home. 11 million people chose "No thanks" versus voting for or against a candidate. Way too many Americans voted for Trump, absolutely, fuck em.

But a lot of people looked at their options and didn't see a substantial enough difference to bother voting. That tells us more about the Dems and their incredibly unpopular platform among their electorate, and how their campaign strategy of "just be slightly less Republican" isn't winning Republicans to their side, but it is disenfranchising their own progressive base.

Who I think just made it clear they'd rather not vote than keep being told to plug their nose and wait for progress that just isn't coming.

...like nobody in his right mind would and should want.

If this results in the Kroger Albertsons merger going through I'm going to be so pissed.

Aside from that, we have far too many monopolistic companies that need to be brought down a peg. This is going to be miserable.

It's going to happen. I'm making it a point over the next two months to get my pantry as full as possible before Trump reenters office, just buying extra rice and beans and canned veggies and such.

Luckily my job includes market-adjustment salary increases, so as far as wages go, my job always keeps up with the market. I'm hoping it'll be enough.

does humphrey still stand? that's from when fdr was not allowed to dismiss one of hoover's ftc commissioners.

[-] Mirshe@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

This hardly matters. Trump has always said he's not going to respect the rule of law, and now, with really unprecedented total control of all 3 branches of government (as in, the people that were elected and already there support HIM SPECIFICALLY, not just his party affiliation), he's in a prime spot to just do whatever he likes.

[-] JeffKerman1999@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 weeks ago

Does it matter? Dude will do anything he wants in is "official role"

[-] Hoticeberg@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Can't wait for my stock in Buy N' Large to go up.

Instead of 12 megacorps in a trenchcoat it's gonna be 3. Maybe 4.

Awesome.

someone was just tellin me that pamela lost because she did not stand behind lina khan enough. bold move all you cottons out there.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 12 points 2 weeks ago

someone was just tellin me that pamela lost because she did not stand behind lina khan enough.

I mean that's definitely part of it. Lina Khan was one of the best parts of the Biden administration, so if Harris won't even promise that then she wasn't just a status quo candidate; she was a status quo but worse candidate.

[-] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

worse than trump who would keep kahan? is that the thinking. you will get khan or better with kamala (my bad with the brain fart in my other response)

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 1 points 2 weeks ago

Khan or better? Nope, definitely not. It's Lina Khan or a corporate suck up.

worse than trump who would keep kahan?

If you think voters compare between the two candidates on every single policy to make a 100% logical choice of who to vote for then I have bad news for you.

[-] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

Of course not. I don't. I look at the overall but in this case one side of the overall is pure negative and the other was some negative some positive. Actually I guess I do like if its a specific issue I think of what the one canidate would do vs the other. who the heck doesn't do that??? Anyways yeah its not like I thought the typical person was a rocket scientist but my estimation of the typical american voter is now in the toilet and I have no hope for our country.
