Comic panels taken out of comics so we can make fun of them!! We love the golden age stuff!

Rules:

  1. Comics must come from actual comic books. No AI or Photoshops.

  2. Single panels are preferred.

  3. Comics should be unintentionally funny. Spider-man cracking wise is not what this is about.

  4. Don't be a dick.

  5. I can't believe I've had to add this... NO RACISM.

I see a duck, and I see a cop.

Neither of those things qualify as human.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 39 points 7 months ago (1 children)

That's really unkind to ducks.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 14 points 7 months ago

Also unkind to pigs. :(

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

A duck, a pig, and a human are walking in the desert...

[–] superkret@feddit.org 48 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I hate to be the one to tell you this, dude, but you're a duck.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 27 points 7 months ago (2 children)

It's just his last name! It's not his identity!

[–] sepiroth154@feddit.nl 22 points 7 months ago (4 children)

If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck...

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 14 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Which brings up a point- in the comics, Donald appears to speak without any sort of impediment, and is also quite eloquent. In the cartoons... not so much.

[–] sepiroth154@feddit.nl 12 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It's probably to do with it being easier to add in speech than in writing. But I'm sure someone on YouTube can make a 10 hour documentary about the deep lore behind it!

Same rules as the boomhauers, they are speaking fluent and beautiful language through the worst drawl imaginable

[–] flabbergast@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

We can thank Carl Barks for the upgrade from the cartoons.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Carl gave Donald about a 30-point IQ boost along with fixing the speech impediment.

[–] flabbergast@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

For anybody unfamiliar with Barks and his Duck-legacy, look him up on wikipedia, or better yet: Read his classic Uncle Scrooge stories. Best work he has done!

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (2 children)

And I don't know about the recent reboot, but the Ducktales cartoon from the 80s adapted a lot of Barks stories.

[–] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu 3 points 7 months ago

The 2017 reboot is excellent (arguably better than the 80s series), and adapts stories by Carl Barks as well as Don Rosa.

[–] flabbergast@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

I must admit I'm not familiar with those. I'm more comic than cartoon minded, and get picky about the drawing-style. Gonna check them out though.

As he speaks English, does Donald talk like a duck though?

[–] sepiroth154@feddit.nl 3 points 7 months ago

Tap for spoilerUsually ducks don't speak at all!

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 2 points 7 months ago

It's a chicken! (Old Cow and Chicken cartoon episode)

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world -1 points 7 months ago

Then you should still ask it what it identifies as.

[–] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

According to that logic, you aren't a squid either but maybe a duck or... a human??

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I am a squid and identify as a squid. Donald obviously is whatever the opposite of a furry is.

[–] sundrei@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 7 months ago

A... skinny?

No, wait that's awful.

[–] BenLeMan@lemmy.world 11 points 7 months ago

How easy that would have been to avoid. Just write "only person," problem fixed.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago

Who is going to tell him?

[–] DirkMcCallahan@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago

This gives off "Ted Cruz for Human President" vibes.

[–] gwilikers@lemmy.ml 4 points 7 months ago

In Usagi Yojimbo, do they recognise that they are different species? Cuz they'll talk about rabbits as though they are animals (as opposed to the anthropomorphic animal characters). Also there's humans.
