The median age of this group was more than 77. The vast majority – around 96% - had a death deemed "reasonably foreseeable", due to severe medical conditions such as cancer.

In the small minority of other cases, patients may not have been terminally ill, but sought an assisted death due to a long and complicated illness that had significantly impacted their quality of life.

Ah yes, "abused" through being used exactly as designed.

The article mentions two or three anecdotes that were clear failures, but I haven't seen studies showing a systemic problem. Do you have evidence of that?

Although this is run by the govt, so by definition it's systemic. In any case, there hasn't been a study (afaik), so we have no idea just how widespread the abuse is

Those are anecdotes about people regretting their political choices. There isn't any indication from your original BBC link that recipients of MAiD regretted their political choices. It mentions Sophia, but there's no evidence that her chemical sensitivity or problems finding housing had anything to do with her political support.

So far, this post hasn't provided evidence that MAiD is being misused, or leopard face eating.

Median age being 77 objectively means there isnt widespread abuse. That's about the life expectancy of Canada.

That doesn't follow. The age of recipients doesn't tell us anything about why they received MAiD, who initiated the process, or the protections built into the process.

Considering how Canadian institutions have fucked up in the past, MAiD is worth keeping an eye on. But OP hasn't provided anything showing a problem.

Just because you're afraid to die doesn't mean others are. It's their choice & none of your business. There is no abuse because there are plenty of safeguards in place preventing people from doing this willy-nilly. Go find something that's a REAL problem to fearmonger about.
