Switch backs are easier on the body and require less effort than a straight climb.
No shame in taking them, and you’ll enjoy the summit more because your body isn’t bitching at you for what you did to it. (And then again after the walk down.)

That's what's so wild about hiking (and life). You look up and see how far you still need to go, but then you turn around to look back, see how far you've already come, and realise that you're already halfway there.
Switchbacks in a forest have no view. Only struggle.
