So what you’re saying is if I inject Coca Cola directly into my blood stream I can finally clean all my rusty red blood cells? Now they’ll work heaps better thanks!

[-] ArmokGoB@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 year ago

Drain cleaner does a better job.

That must be why they're all red! From the rust!

[-] SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yes correct. Hemoglobin is an iron rich protein that becomes browny red when oxygen binds to the iron

Also BEWARE of dihydrogen monoxide. It's in every cup of water that you drink no matter where you got the water from. It's all over the world. Nobody is safe.

[-] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 35 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Don't try to make it seem safer than it is. More telling name for Dihydrogen Monoxide is Hydroxic Acid.
Hydroxic Acid has Ph level of 7, which is highest of all acids. It easily damages metals like iron and even steel.
Furthermore, it can cause fire or even violent explosions in contact with alkali metals.
Under the influence of electricity, it will also produce highly explosive, odorless gas.

STAY AWAY FROM HYDROXIC ACID!!!

[-] PastaGorgonzola@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago

It gets worse: it's extremely addictive. Research has shown that habitual users who want to detox die within 48 hours unless they start consuming it again.

[-] Knusper@feddit.de 13 points 1 year ago

I hear, it's so potent, you can dilute it all you want and it remains just as dangerous...

We should save our crops from the scourge of water and use coke there too. It’s what plants crave.

[-] omnomed@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Yeah they need more electrolytes!

[-] Retrograde@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

I did this. I'm now prediabetic.

[-] SheDiceToday@eslemmy.es 6 points 1 year ago

You'll also be more likely to get gout. Fun chain of events, it is.

Coca Cola is known as a corrosive inhibitor

Am I missing something or is it literally just an acid and that's how acids react with rust?

[-] StopSpazzing@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago
[-] Cysioland@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 year ago

It's got orthophosphoric acid in it, it makes for a good cleaner of various surfaces and mechanisms

[-] newIdentity@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 year ago

There actually is an area in Africa where they only drink coca cola because they don't have clean drinking water

[-] KredeSeraf@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Lots of Mexico is in the same boat. Also coke is cheaper than baby formula so there are lots of babies mostly raised on it.

[-] Martineski@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 year ago

This is so cursed and sad.

Iirc (From the book Chew on This), some Alaskans, especially the indigenous peoples get hooked on coke early, because that's what comes in the planes that bring supplies.

[-] KredeSeraf@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

That wouldn't surprise me at all. God we are so fucked.

[-] Franzia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 year ago

Capitalism is working as intended.

[-] newIdentity@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

In this case it's literally corruption. A few kilometers away, there is a coca cola bottling station which uses the area's ground water.

Coca cola also sells bottled water in the area so they don't lose anything even if they buy water.

[-] The_Walkening@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

I drink water, water comes out. I drink soda, water comes out. It's pretty obvious, my body don't want the water.

After seeing this i replaced all the horrible dangerous water in my aquarium with pure natural coca cola and my fish is so relaxed

[-] TheWanderer@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago

So relaxed that they are now floating instead of swimming.

[-] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

just vibing, so peaceful. Really living in the moment

Waters tastes gross

For the record, I'm a committed hydro-homie and do not endorse this message.

Curious why this wasn't /lemmyshitpost instead?

[-] KMohZaid@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yes!!!!!! So Mr. Banana sir, I request you some money to fill my whole house with coca cola 🥤 machines and remove water. And requesting you to decrease cola price.

Anyway, thanks for your awareness scheme. I am sure people believe this concept and implement cola as daily drinking liquid instead of water. (In other ~~parellel~~ universe)
