Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Rules

  1. If you post images with text, endeavour to provide the alt-text

  2. If the image is a crosspost from an OP, Provide the source.

  3. Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

Its not common knowledge, but I long suspected that they are the reason for so many attempts to shut down national and state parks.

Park Rangers are armed and better trained than cops. They know crazy amounts of wilderness survival. And unlike cops, be it local, state, or federal, they have an interest in protecting something rather than power tripping.

But far, far, far more advantageous is that a surprising number of them can navigate entire parks (with exceptions). The national park system has like 80-90million acres (about the total size of Finland or Germany).

The reason I don't think many really think about it is because they're pretty small in number. Like 1300 or so nation wide. But, the National Park Service has 20k employees, and nearly 400,000 volunteers. They certainly aren't going anywhere.

your comparison to Finland - Germany confuses me.

Is it as large as both together? that would be +

Is it somewhere in between? then there would be a more apt comparison and a better wording.

is it (Finland) minus (Germany)? well thats negative. weird.

I didn't even know they're roughly the same size, and I'm German. What Mercator projection do to a man.

I’m super curious to hear the story behind this, it hasn’t passed through my doom scrolling queue yet.

Posting on Twitter is not resistance

At the time, it inspired so much hope. That we'd be protected from Trump by the little guys in the government.

Refusing to bend the knee is resistance.

Ah yes, what we really need right now is hope from 8 years ago about a movement that ultimately failed to accomplish anything.

I think this was from his first term, but I'm not sure.

They are still (or are again) active and from their reports their coalition is growing. They post often with updates on what is currently happening to government employees these days.
