The salad was created on July 4, 1924, by Caesar Cardini at Caesar's in Tijuana, Mexico, when the kitchen was overwhelmed and short on ingredients. It was originally prepared tableside,[1] and it is still prepared tableside at the original venue.

Memes that aren't 100% accurate and backed by years of research? This is outrageous!!!

Restaurant 100 yrs ago: “let’s throw something cheap together quickly, so the guests can eat”

Restaurant now: “here’s your salad that somehow costs more than a burger”

Yeah... but who was that guy named after?

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 2 points 2 weeks ago

The guy that invented the Kaiser roll, obviously.

I'd eat a trump salad. Can we take care of the middle steps that get us there?

[–] Mr_Fish@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

What would be in a Trump salad? I'm guessing chips instead of croutons, and nothing even remotely green.

Well now it needn't reflect the man.

but whatever it is, it's got Russian dressing.

However If we follow your lead it could be chopped big macs tossed in Russian dressing?

So you believe Julius Caesar is still alive? Let me convince you: he's not.

Is there a Brutus salad?

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I going to padentic here, but the guy's name was Julius. Cesar was his title. We've also had other Cesars, like Augustus and Trajanus. And since the salad isn't called "Julius Salad..."

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

His title absolutely was not Caesar in title. Gaius Julius Caesar was born with that name.
