We're done. Everyone is addicted to it.

I can't even teach my family how to use a browser, or the concept of a website vs. an app.

A small nugget: I just did a Google search on a history of Trump's antisemitism, and got bombarded with government pages on his current executive orders and other stuff debunking it. Tried it in DuckDuckGo, got a pile of articles on historical/associate antisemitism.

Everyone is addicted to it.

If you've ever had to deal with an addict long term, you'll notice the initial euphoria wears off and the allure of the next high dissolves into desperation and despair.

I've actually started going to Yandex, of all places, to do my searching simply because the English language version isn't optimized to filter out older sources and jam my first few pages full of US-endorsed promoted content.

Funny enough that stuff is best to search on the ai’s right now. Ask it for its sources.

[–] MisanthropiCynic@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah. I had to put ChatGPT on my home screen because browser search engines are worthless now.

[–] pumpkinseedoil@mander.xyz 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd use Le Chat Mistral (Mistral AI) instead.

Or at least duck.ai

The biggest advantage I have found with ChatGPT is that I can train it to give me answers in a form I like. It sources links are familiar to me and summarises and uses language on my level instead of rambling on forever.

I’ve tried the different ones on DuckDuckGo but that requires me to open a window and a browser and that’s just a lot more work, especially ChatGPT is now integrated into Siri and I don’t have to do anything to ask it a question

Every modern LLM can do that

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I do this some with local LLM scripts, but ultimately it still has to pull sources from web search, too.

We don't need everyone. We have lemmy.

I noticed a vast change in Google search results post election, especially around anti Trump stuff. You can still find the other stuff, but it’s pages deep or you have to keep removing keywords until you get what you’re looking for.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Well, that's true. That was before Reagan tho. I mean it completed in 1982 but was started in 1974.

Hell we had clean Air & Water laws then.

But then Reagan allowed media conglomerates to suck up properties in all cities and kicked off the modern media oligopolies.

Then they let Microsoft just - flaunt that they were powerless. Then the Googles and so on.

If only we had some kind of "fediverse", but alas...

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Yeah our benevolent mememasters are apparently unaware of the cool kids table as yet.

There was another insurance CEO who was shot at: https://www.fox9.com/news/saif-chip-terhune-insurance-ceo-bullets-oregon.amp

There was a lady who tried to blow up a Tesla dealership: https://abcnews.go.com/US/woman-caught-plant-explosive-devices-tesla-dealership/story?id=119244251

Things are happening that aren’t getting attention.

The issue are trash mods on. Politics and news sub's who are essentially shilling neo lib DNC trash

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

mmmm but mods are what make the instance.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 1 points 1 month ago

Each sub's has it own mods and neo lib trash just happened to control key Lemmy communities.

First time seeing martyrdom?

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago
