About to get out of here and head up to Beechworth to camp with some animals. I think the boys will love it and it will feed their dinosaur phase

Unreasonably annoyed at an old boss who went out of her way to criticise me for ordering Who Gives A Crap toilet paper for the office because I "didn't understand how women's bodies work" and that "women need soft TP". Mind you this was when WGAC was brand new and before the order had even arrived, and we were a fellow Melbourne startup so I thought pretty good karma at least to support their brand.

Caught her several years later on social media saying how she has always loved WGAC. No babes. You have not.

Anyway, I think of this anecdote whenever I refill my toilet roll. Haha.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (2 children)

It's true women do love a soft tp but anything is better than nothing so fuck her.

Confirmed I have to hand over to feckless coworker.

She rang me almost in tears freaking out about it. I feel bad for her, but she has had to do very little as previous manager protected her.

Edit: She just rang me so I could dictate an email to her. Jesus christ.

The kid had a sample of what gastro is like last night. Yep both ends, simultaneously. Gave her a little shock it did.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Bucket by the toilet when gastro comes knocking. Better to be safe than sorry. And I'd rather clean vomit out of a bucket than the other stuff outta pants or off the floor.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (6 children)

Apparently what happened was she lent over to turn the taps on the bath and up it rose and out so she squatted down and it came out the other end.

I heard a weak "mummy". I go in, see what's happening, hold her hair back. She says "do you think it was the pasta I had at school? And I've shat on your mat". I reply "yes and dear god".

The child then had a shower with undies on and one soiled bath mat.

I explained what to do next time. Run to the toilet with the bucket.

Drama at the gym! Two guys yelling at each other, thought it was going to turn into a punch on. Others broke it up. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like that in a gym, it’s usually a happy place.

Love it when I have the enthusiasm (and money) to make exactly what I want. I do think the booze this evening helped 🤪

Packing continues. Even tho I culled large amounts of belongings over the past 8 months I still have a lot to pack.

I am still very excited to move.

It's a quiet area and I will have so much more privacy too. I hope to get so much work done, art projects and life skills projects, and recuperate from living in this stressful place.

Decent day of field work owning some data, didn't get too caught up in disgusting traffic on the way back managed to get to the Todd Rd exit and take some back streets through Port Melbourne. Back at it tomoz to finish up unassessed areas and then (ugh) redo some areas with dodgy existing data ... May need an extra day to get through it all.

Then I'll need to hurry up and prepare the data for an entire other area up north and start attacking that asap. Goal is to finish it all by the end of the month. I might just squeeze it in bearing in mind I have a friend visiting from overseas for a week as well...

But for tonight, after having had a couple of drinks with colleagues I am gonna give in to my seafood craving and make a nice Thai seafood curry. I'd normally get takeaway but I think I prefer to spend my money on getting heaps of prawns to make it myself at home. And then I get to really enjoy this week's tv 😎

E: also the stripe on my finger is not cancer, whoopee

Confessional Friday:

Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been many years since my last confession.

I almost always answer the phone on the toilet.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (2 children)

As in if it rings while you are on the toilet you will answer, or when it rings you usually head to the toilet to answer it there?

[–] mysticgreg@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Well I mean it's right there so you may as well answer it if it rings.

convenient

I will never even take my phone in there unless it's in my handbag and I have to use a public loo, which is very rarely

Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. I have never ever in my life stepped foot in a church, let alone confess.

I confess that I make fun of my cat for having an empty nut sack.

I bought some knitting pattern books for baby clothes. Sent them to a local pharmacy for pickup to prevent thieving, I hope l can collect with no dramas. I’m not a kid person but I figure it would be easier to finish small fast projects. Places like St Kilda mums would always take them. ~~Melbcat may even finally run out of luck and wear them~~

Crocheting something to donate and thinking of Lemon.

I probably made the right choice migrating given Spez’s stance on emulating the Muskrat and the developments there but I kind of thought I’d split my time equally between sites… until a rivalry emerged and the old place changed.

I miss Lemon. Stompsie. Epicpillowcase. Smeg. I really like this sane low drama corner of the internet but there are so many people I wish had come with us.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago (5 children)

I'm only a few days off it for lentish. Haven't seen Stompsie about for a while. Epic still has a loser anti fan club of down voters. Lemon is moving house again but has quietened down quite a bit, I hope that's a sign she's recovering from the burnout.

My gripe is that they started playing with posts, like if I sorted by new it wasn't actually in order of newest post. Or sometimes it would appear that popular posts would be completely hidden from me for the first 24 hours. I'd check in the morning and see a day old post with a few hundred comments that just wasn't there when I went to bed.

I reckon with the IPO, a bunch of bad actors bought in and have been subtly playing at manipulating the feeds. Given what happened to digg, I reckon they're trying minor tweaks here and there, but it leaves the user base as the proverbial frog in the boiling pot scenario. Part advertising, part billionaire mindthink.

knock off in 3 and a half hours with 1 hour lunch break inbetween.

Can't wait to get out of here today. Avoiding everyone and hiding.

I do admit I've been playing on my phone more than I should but I don't really care today. I'll do some work but I'm not going to fully commit because I'm pissy today.

Based on the enthusiastic response to my coffee grinder listing on marketplace I think I can safely say I underpriced it. I had about 25 replies within a couple of hours last night and woke up to another 20, most of which are wanting to come and collect ASAP.

Edit: FFS. I've taken the listing down and one of them messaged me on the listing for one of my other items to try and get a reply. He's now blocked.

My upholstery supplies are out for delivery already. I certainly can't complain about their efficiency.

University of Tasmania library has also been extremely efficient (as usual) and I have a book waiting for me at my door. Mr Woof would have been furious about the incursion.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (4 children)

First world problems here.

It's my homeless week at work. Someone's using my workspace today so I can't settle down there early and I've had to move rooms twice already just to have my "breakfast".

Also missed out on car parking today so I've had to park down the street, really sucks having to haul my stuff because I don't have anywhere secure to keep this stuff week to week.

Anyway tired and grumpy so far.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I'm pissed and grumpy now, they used the space and didn't clean anything up so I've just spent the last 10-15 mins resetting the space.

I really should have bought a bottle of wine yesterday while I was at Aldi, could have used it to unwind tonight.

Well at least I have snakes and chippies.

Rawr!!

I've made a few new friends this week, and reconnected with a few old ones too.

I'm really happy about it. Things weren't great since lock down and it's nice to have a few different groups to hang out with.

I'm a bit of a social butterfly, but lock down really fucked me up.

It's just nice to talk to more than 2 people all the time. I've just always felt like I'm an acquaintance to them whereas to me they were pretty much my only friends.

Neither of them messaged me to say congrats on my 10 years sobriety even though they knew about it, and I posted it on Facebook where they would have seen.

It's a relief.

Traffic was crap.

Guess people might be trying to get away early for the long weekend.
