Looking for suggestions for decent Canadian politics podcasts. Currently I’ve only found the House and The Backbench are good on the regular - but discoverability is a challenge with most podcast lists dominated by American content.

Recommendations?

The Breach, Bubble Pop with Rachel Gilmore, The Hatchet, Tech Won't Save Us (Canadian host, tech focused), Spacing Radio.

One of the hosts on It Won't Happen Here is Canadian too.

Steve Boots has some good content but can occasionally be whiny and rude imho.

Love Steve Boots. To me, he is "spicy" and non-apologetic.

Thanks! Subbed to all of them. Also worked in tech for a couple of SV firms and still working in tech (albeit for myself) so Tech Won’t Save Us is of particular interest. Funny - so many co workers had that on a t-shirt and now I’m wondering if the two are related.

I've been enjoying the Hatchet. Their episode on TD was great.

Check out Steve Boots, started watching some of his. He seems fairly level, evenly criticizes the parties. There is another guy my gf watches, if I remember tonight to ask her I will put him here too.

Thanks! Will check it out.

I should clarify that I do mean podcasts in the tradition sense - audio. I found “Politics is Broken” of which Steve Boots is one of the hosts and an episode of another podcast featuring him.

If you're listening to the Backbench, you probably already know about the other Canadaland podcasts, but I'll add a plug for that and the Copernic Affair. CBC's Frontburner can be good from time to time.

I'm really disappointed that The Big Story dropped Jordan Heath Rawlings. That was a great show.

Actually I didn’t explore the other Canadaland podcasts - so I very much appreciate the pointer!

The regular show is fairly personality driven - if you don't like the hosts, it can be a slog.

But I highly recommend the Copernic Affair. It's a good true-crime type podcast.

My main two are Herly Burly Curse of Politics and The Line. CoP has people from all the major parties and is more the nuts and bolts of campaigning, The Line is more commentary and leans conservative (but they regularly criticize Conservative parties)

I’m definitely open to hearing perspectives that aren’t ones I might identify with. Thanks!

I love this thread, there's a huge hole in my cancon podcasts!

CBC's ideas: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/ideas

It isn't always about politics, and when it is it's usually wider reaching things in retrospect or debates with intelligent people, but it's quintessentially Canadian and always interesting and educational.

I used to listen to CBC's At Issue with Rosemary Barton until I ran behind my list and had to unsubscribe a large chunk of them.
Now, I'm just behind by 4 months worth of episodes
