It's not racism. It is propaganda group think. As long as US tells itself it is winning, and needs war to keep winning, then US empire is well funded, and no change in policy ever needs to be considered.

In truth, if Aliens provided cheap stuff to trade with US, it would seem obvious to trade instead of going to war, except if an oligarchy controlling every member of government to protect their fiefdoms had their way. Our rulership only ever wants to hear confirmation of their propaganda lies. Heresy has never been welcome.
