Assistant to the speaker.
Anything to pretend they’re running for President
So will he drop out before or after being humiliated in a floor vote?

Another insurrectionist.
In before Johnson flops
there's enough floppy johnsons running the country already
They know there’s a pill for floppy Johnson’s, right?
Well, there was... before Gaetz ate them all.
I used to think one man couldn't possibly consume all the floppy Johnson's in Washington. Then I learned of Jim Jordan.
brave of you to wait so long before posting that.
Lets see, Johnson is an ultra right, election denier, anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-Ukraine, anti-tax on the wealthy christain +++. Yep, he seems to fit all the Reich buttons.
How many Emmers will he last?
What’s the conversion for Emmers to Moochis?
If one Mooch is 11 days and one Emmer is four hours than one Mooch is 66 Emmers. But if used together than one could easily define larger blocks of time. For example 23 days can now be defined by 2 Mooches and 6 Emmers as opposed to a fractional Mooch of 2.09 repeating.
How long will he last? The time for being a speaker candidate gets shorter and shorter, what will happen when they reach singularity?
McCarthy will never let it go. He’s going to compromise the speakership even more with some awful deal for a “co-speaker” with some obstructionist asshole like Gym.
He’ll go down in history as the guy who turned the speakership into a joke. A clown amongst clowns. The face of failure.
I thought he said he'd never do it again? And this is the first I've heard of him being back in (but I haven't been following that closely). When'd he flip flop (or am I wrong)?
Unless he has changed his mind again, afaik he said "I wasnt gonna run for it again but after the Israel conflict Im looking into running again because the house needs leadership."
This is the best summary I could come up with:
The House GOP picked Rep. Mike Johnson as their latest speaker nominee Tuesday evening, though the Louisiana Republican so far lacks the 217 votes needed to win the gavel – the latest sign that Republicans are still no closer to electing a new speaker three weeks after Kevin McCarthy’s historic ouster.
The conference has repeatedly failed to coalesce around a successor to McCarthy amid deep division within its ranks – including for Jordan who was ousted as the party’s nominee on Friday after three unsuccessful rounds on the House floor.
The politically precarious situation has plunged the House into uncharted territory as it looks increasingly unclear whether any Republican can get the 217 votes needed to win the gavel.
After winning the party nomination in a secret ballot election on Tuesday, Emmer faced swift opposition from the right flank of his conference as well as a significant rebuke from former President Donald Trump.
Leaving a GOP conference meeting Monday night, Emmer told CNN, “We have a good relationship,” when asked about Trump.
Following Emmer’s withdrawal from the race, Republican Rep. Steve Womack of Arkansas warned that the GOP is at an “impasse” and said he doesn’t know if they’ll be able to resolve their internal differences and find a speaker.
