Poor lady for being imprisoned like this .... but it should be a warning to everyone travelling to / from / or through the US. If you are even wondering about anything unusual or different about your documentation / VISA / permits or whatever ... avoid going anywhere near the US. There is so much crap happening down there now that if you end up getting stuck in their system for something small, you might end up getting stuck there for days, weeks, months or years.
United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
At this point, the US should be Do Not Fly Unless Necessary list, irrespective of whether you think your paperwork is in order.
Definitely. It's now a dangerous place as far as I'm concerned.
Well then, guess I won't be going to the US any time soon.
This is ridiculous and idiotic which is absolutely the hallmark of a trump administration.
I have questions on this: The family she was going to stay with, did this include any services such as looking after kids?
Would leaving the US on a tourist visa and attempting to reenter be grounds for breaching the visa?
I've read it was something to do with a company called Workaway that apparently have a piss poor track record
So an au pair job and she tried to get in on a tourist visa Then when she was sent back that tripped immigration as she had left the country and been returned.
My sympathy for her in her current predicament is not great
