Hold on, I'm a pervert but I'm not that perverted.

Last night, I read the book Grand Theft Astro by Scott Meyers. A moderately important plot point is about something called the Ibu. This made me think of that.

The book is still sitting next to me from where I set it when I finished reading it. When I picked it up to double check I remembered the word correctly, the book fell open to almost exactly the page that introduced the Ibu. Oddly serendipitous to allow me to make such a meaningless post.

FWIW, the book was not a masterpiece and has a very recognizable style - positives and negatives - from his books that I've previously read, but I found it enjoyable enough to read in one sitting.

until you irreparably damage your liver and/or kidneys

It blows my mind how much people take OTC pain killers. I take one OTC pain pill maybe every three or four years (if even that).

I'm not anti medicine by any means, but I just don't get it. Either I experience a lot less pain than other people or other people can't be mildly uncomfortable for a little while without immediately taking drugs (and not even fun drugs)

It may be dependant on age.

I used to never take analgesics, but as I got older I found myself taking more and more as my body tends to hurt more and more.

Ibuprofen doesn't damage your liver/kidneys; paracetamol does. Ibuprofen is bad for your heart

I thought the main concern with ibuprofen was the stomach? Liver (and maybe kidneys?) is Tylenol. Maybe I'm wrong though and it's both.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Either way chorinic/excessive use is not good for you physically

Ibuprofen is also terrible for your heart. Paracetamol kills your liver

It is terrible for your stomach if you take it on an empty stomach. It also doesn't work as well. You need to eat something when taking it. Helps it get absorbed better and decreases the risk of an ulcer.

Why does my body hurt all the time tho

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

I don't know either, it sucks. Headaches and back pain suck. Cramps too.

[–] jia_tan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 weeks ago

Why tho? I don’t like it, too many interactions. I prefer acetaminophen.
