Now its a law to force kids to sign up for crippling life long debt in order to graduate. Fuckers want to saddle kids with this debt right out of high-school.

FAFSA is how you get grants and scholarships.

Low income students are eligible for pell grants, which is enough to pay for community college completely.

Signing up for FAFSA doesn’t give you debt, it gives you the option of debt if you are approved and go to college.

And guess what most 18 year olds do when see they approved for 100k in student loans? Can't buy a house but congratulations we will saddle you with student loan debt no problem.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid

My kid was told to fill one out, even though we knew we didn't qualify. After a LOT of paperwork, it came back with an offer of a $2K loan.

This strikes me as a good idea since part of what the FAFSA accounts for is overall attempted credit-hours. Note I did not say overall attempted credit-hours payed for by student aid. It's possible to run out of student aid simply because you or your family covered the cost of classes yourself in the past.

Also, as others have pointed out the FAFSA doesn't just qualify a person for loans, but grants also like the Pell Grant which at least 30% of all students qualify for.

You all forget Trump just limited the Department of education and I promise there will no free aid for poor families. Hell our schools admitted that most kids will need to apply for LOANS.
