I've been testing Jottacloud, aiming to find a replacement for my family iCloud setup.

I didn't find quite that, but I did find a true gem with a well-designed CLI tool for niche platforms, Apple TV app and overall good vibes.

Highly recommend them, and if you want to read more about my experience so far, and how I enjoyed talking to a support first time in years, please read the blog post.

You could give rclone + cryptomator a try if you're concerned they can see your files. They'll only ever see encrypted files that way.

Beware their client CLI client. It silently failed to back up some files that it claimed to have backed up.

Also, after reaching out to them, it became apparent that they had full access to my files.

Of course they do. They state it in their privacy policy that they can technically see the files but they only look there when a user requests it.

It’s same for all cloud solutions really unless they market it as E2EE.

For stuff I don’t want others to see I have cryptomator setup.

I’ll also recommend them for their speed.
