Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to get rid of citizen's united and implement independent district drawing and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Over the past three or four weeks I've dumped subscriptions, degoogled as much as I think I'm going to be able to, bought Canadian where able and Anywhere But America everywhere else.

But I feel like there's more I could be doing to stick it to the yanks. Does anyone have any suggestions for some daily activities to do to keep my spite burning?

How about building connections/community? Getting to know your neighbours? I know this is not easy as I am an introvert and believe me, I struggle with this but I have made it my goal to get to know my neighbours better this year. If/when the really hard times come, neighbours may become our lifeline and vice versa. I would also like to suggest we show more support for local community programs such as libraries and food banks, or perhaps consider volunteering? Perhaps through a provincial volunteer program such as Ontario Corps?

I've been trying to volunteer at a food bank, but they've been ghosting me. 🫠

If you can't advance vertically anymore, try horizontally. Inform those around you what and why you do it. Many people just don't know and might even care.

Next time you walk through the grocery store, grab an American product, pretend to consider purchasing it, then place it back on the shelf with the "Made in USA" or "Produit des É.-U.A." label facing forward.

You're doing great. Don't be discouraged by the fact that there will always be more you could do. If you are ready to involve yourself more, look for local "Tesla Takedown" protest events, mask up to protect your privacy from Musk's spycars, and show your voice there.

Lots of good suggestions already. For me the next step pushing governments to start spending money here for military gear, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure and such. I’m not saying we just throw money at the problem cause that leads to corruption and abuse but why is it only Irving can build boats? Why do we have so many aerospace companies building for other countries. The time for a homegrown solutions is now. We’re 40 million strong and need to start acting like it.

I find writing to be a good outlet for my passion.

Have you considered writing up guides on how others can take similar steps, based on what you’ve done and what you’ve learned along the way?

The folks saying you should spread the word and help others take those same steps are correct I think. You are doing the right stuff, if everyone did that, the american colonial empire would be screwed.

A couple things that I've found: Going through all my apps, even the free ones. Checking whether the company is, at some end of the chain, American and if so, finding an alternative app.

Writing letters to my local stores, asking them either to improve their Canadian signage or about the availability of more Canadian goods.

The next one I'm starting is working out how to host a jellyfin server as I've made a deal with some of my non techy friends that if I can figure out how to host whatever they're streaming, they'll cancel the relevant American subscriptions.

Finally, trying to make un American or open source projects/environments/alternatives better, e.g., participating on Blue Sky or here.

Regardless, thanks for your efforts and keep up the good fight!

If you keep doing what you are doing it will continue to hurt the US.

May I also suggest you start using a setup like a pihole on your home network, there are other options yes but I am have been using pihole for several years now. To block ads, many of which are sold by US ad markets. I know it hurts Canadians as well, and I am truly sorry about that, but it will hurt the advertisers more. Do not use a VPN service to block ads, use an ad blocker.

I'm running pihole already. Works great!

I've been unsubscribing from any US media on YouTube and using the "don't recommend channel" option on the homepage. This feels especially extreme because I've used an ad blocker for the last decade lol

Socialblade can be used to find country of origin.

Yes I have done this too. "Don't recommend channel" option is definitely handy.
