They just back them in the middle east.

The line "Grease the guillotine with the tyrants fat" from Heckerlied seems REALLY fitting here.

The German government is one of the most suppressive in the western world in regards to protests against a literal genocide happening right now in Gaza. A genocide legally labeled as such by institutions erected as a result of Germany's genocide. Branding wise, Germany is extremely progressive, but in principle and practice, it is extremely sad to see how little Germany has come along.

Western Germany never really purged Nazis. The CDU was always the Nazi continuation party, starting in 1945.

That applies to all G7.

[–] biegoditch@lemmy.cafe 30 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Germany's AfD is the second biggest party.

[–] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

And the biggest party is the CDU which also hates brown people, women and queers.

It is the Nazi continuation party.

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 1 points 18 hours ago

Yes, and a parade float will totally change things.

They'll just keep waiting for their trains that are somehow always late despite German reputation for efficiency.

This is a traditional carnival wagon. this does not mean we have a spine.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 56 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Who knew World War III might very well be Germany trying to save the world from Nazis.

[–] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 19 hours ago

It won't be. Our recent elections was like 50+% racist parties

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

They would be worried about their own Nazis more if that were the case. I’ll take the help but lord they are not ok right now.

Sort of like picolo in dragon ball. I mean it's the offspring making amends for their father's transgressions.

1 in 5 people voted for the current nazi party in Germany a couple of weeks ago so... meh

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 75 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

What I wouldn't give for if only 1 in 5 voted for the nazi party in America.

We had 84ish% participation US had 64%ish(?) Additionally we had 29% for conservatives, which would be the people in the US voting rep eventhough they would not admit to directly supporting Trump. The gap is smaller than it seems, though plurality in the political system (multiple parties, not winner takes it all) relaxes the situation quite a bit.

Yes, but those people know better than to tell their co-workers or friends (and even families) that they did, because they'd be treated like the fucking imbeciles they are. Compare that to the US where the MAGAs are the loudest, most outspoken fuckos of all who can't stop advertising their idotic evilness with hats, megaphones, and internet opinions. That's a world apart from what is happening in Germany - so far.

Funny how Isreal and Germany switched roles.

[–] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (1 children)

no

Israel didn't exist yet during WW2, it was just a British colony. Now it's an independent state, and still perpetuates colonialism against arabs. No role switched at any point.

Germany is the second biggest supporter of Israel right after the US. They didn't switch with Israel, they are firmly on the same side.

[–] iamai@lemm.ee 3 points 19 hours ago

I think the person you replied to meant in terms of persecution. Germany went after the Jews now they're against that ideology. We see the current Jewish area that is Israel persecuting others. Role reversal, you would think they would treat others better after everything but that's not the case!

It’s not the spit roast I was hoping for but I guess it’ll have to do.

Kinda loses its sting given how many years Germans have been making floats of Trump like this, though. Good sentiment, but I wish it amounted to something.

Not to say it's a waste of time or they shouldn't do this, but I'm just tired, boss.

[–] D_C@lemm.ee 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Here's the thing, tRUMP and his cronies want you to be tired of it. They want you to say 'meh, this does nothing'. They want you to accept it and move on wearily. Once enough people are worn down by it all then it will become normal and accepted.

That is how the convicted criminal and rapist 'wins'.

Would be better with an effigy of elon stood in front of him - with his pants down.

[–] Lupo@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

Don't forget Putin bringing up the rear!

A proper pig spitroast

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's a parade float, which could be considered a form of play, so...
