Buy Coöperative

A community dedicated to financial and consumer decisions that will actually impact the capitalist market most of the world is forced to endure.

Primarily for suggestions of coöperative (worker or consumer owned) businesses/services and open-source software/applications (as, when anyone can see the code, anyone can own it).

Rules:

Don't be a dick. The usual rules apply; no

  • transphobia
  • racism
  • ablism
  • sexism
  • homophobia
  • xenophobia
  • clasism

Don't suggest non-coöp. businessesIf there aren't any businesses that fill a particular market or need, self-employed creators or traditional business that have a majority of workers belonging to a strong union are acceptable but the goal, here, is to create a real, viable alternative in the market that is accountable to the average person and has incentive to actually serve their community.

Provide more than just a name. All suggestions must have a link to the website of the suggestion, if available; if not, phone numbers, a scan of a brochure of theirs, or something must be provided so members of this sub. can meaningfully do something with your information.

If the suggestion only serves a particular location, specify that location or region.

Include any other useful information such as accessibility concerns (does the suggestion only have a physical presence/location (is that location wheelchair accessible, if you know)? Does the suggestion deliver? Can you order online or must you call on the phone to place a delivery?).

I hope that's the way Valve goes when Gabe dies.

When I die, I hope to give my body to a bunch of employees, too. Just dump me at the nearest Comcast office with a resume for "customer service rep" stapled to my forehead.

I always thought red mill was just another marketing shtick but it's the real deal. Awesome stuff.

Unfortunately they're selling the old red mill building and the cafe.

The fact I'd never even heard of ESOP as an ownership model, yet hear all the time about all sorts of other crazy schemes like derivatives, dividends, buybacks, SPACs, short-selling, calls, puts, blah blah blah.. being sold as vehicles of wealth for 'the poors' like us, just shows how slanted our markets are against any sort of meaningful worker ownership like this.

Time to start shouting "ESOP!" everywhere we can!

And, they've managed to not turn into a bad version of employee owned businesses.
