I like social media as a concept but most of it has gone to shit. Fedi seems better designed to resist enshitification. It's mostly a nice way to connect with people and chat about ideas.

Haha, same.
It's often sandwiches.
You're getting sandwiches for commenting?? ~/s~
No, I spread the sandwich gospel. And post pictures of sandwiches lol
Awwww yiiiiissssss, some sexy filling between buns, gotta love some of that
I dunno.
Sorry, saw the first comment said that and had to lead with it.
It just has to trigger a response in my mind, and the response has to be worth the effort of typing it in, for me.
Part of that is selfish, but I think we're allowed to be selfish of our time and resources. My arthritis makes extended typing painful, so the threshold is different from what someone with normal hands might have. I'm fine with being selfish in that regard, and don't bare who disagrees.
I'm also the one that gets to decide if the response is "good enough". They won't all be winners, and I accept that fact along with whatever down votes come along. So sometimes a one word joke response might be more worth it to me than a paragraph that's serious would be.
However, I think it relevant to add that sometimes I have a reaction to a post or comment that doesn't meet my threshold for wasting the time of the person making it. I get to decide if it's worth typing up, and sometimes I don't think the response in my head will be useful enough to the person I would be directly responding to, to make it worth the effort for me.
That's pretty much it.
I dunno.
I think, fediverse is filled with mentally sane people. They actually know how to communicate. Nobody acts like a drag queen, drama queen, ret@rds etc. Even if someone has disagreement with someone, they both handle it with maturity and don't engage in toxicity ( as I've seen by far). I hope this standard stays forever and we can get new communities to explore in future.
The fact that I'm not generating content/revenue for some corporation.
