I figure if we make this the standard and normalized way to refer to these tariffs, then it will really drive home the point to republican voters that THEY did this. THEY are getting hurt by their own party. Because I'm sure right now they're trying to find a way to blame obama, or biden, or hillary, or kamala, or whomever.

Fuck that.

Your goods now cost more because of trump tax. Plain and simple. It was an uneeded and nonbeneficial policy set by trump and no one else, in his obsession with hurting china.

Well I don't fully disagree that china needs to be dealt with, as they're becoming a global powerhouse that threatens to dominate the global ecconomy. I get that. But these tariffs are like trying to kill a house fly with a handgun. Even if you somehow hit the fly, you do more damage to your own home for no reason in the process.

I'll dogpile on demonizing Trump's name any day. Trump tax.

This works. When Australian Prime Minister John Howard introduced the Goods and Services Tax (which rationalised and federalised sales tax to 10%), it was called “Little Johnny’s Retirement Fund”.

Fun fact, due to the combination of GST, Fuel Excise and Environmental Levy, Australians pay Tax on a Tax on a Tax. That said, when the Right-Wing party offered to withhold Fuel Excise as an election promise, Petrol Stations immediately put up prices by the value of the Excise.

That is how my friend has been itemizing his proposals. It defaults to something like "tariff contingency fee" but he changes it to "Trump tax"

Naming things after politicians is a time honoured tradition :3 though it's pretty rare for them to stick for a long time.. we only have like what? Obama care, gerrymandering... and boris bikes in the UK x3

Norway has Brustadbu. Sylvia Brustad is responsible for allowing grocery stores below a certain size being open on Sundays in Norway, and now there are a lot of little stores built to that exact square footage.

Metrage. Because, you know, it's a country with a normal measurement system

I switch units as appropriate. In a thread starting with an American reference, where I'm writing in American English, I say "footage". When I actually need to measure something, I use metric.

Sounds about right haha :3

Our social circle used to invoke Edwin Fullerton Borrie in reference to a Turd, simply because the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Borrie_Wetlands were adjacent to the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Treatment_Plant

The only problem is that this kinda lets Republicans off the hook and puts it on Trump. When he's gone, they will remain. We need to remind them every day that we remember what they supported themselves. Naming something after Trump alone let's them off the hook. Don't.

Not only that. Put an item on the shelf, list both the price and the amount paid as tariffs. Label the latter "Trump Tax". Repeat with every other imported item.
