Speculation of Tesla CEO’s possible departure comes as his influence in the administration appears to wane

Elon Musk is reportedly set to leave his government role because he’s tired of the what he sees as a litany of vicious and unethical attacks from the left, according to a report from The Washington Post.

It remains unclear when Musk will depart as head of DOGE; his special government employee status will expire at the end of next month. A person familiar with his thinking told The Post that Musk thinks that his work at DOGE won’t be diminished because of his departure, noting that staffers have already established themselves across a slew of federal agencies.

But speculation of Musk’s possible departure comes as his influence in the administration appears to wane. The New York Times reported last week that the acting commissioner of the IRS was being replaced after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent complained that Musk had his preferred candidate installed without Bessent’s support. Musk has also annoyed other cabinet members by failing to coordinate with them in cost-cutting moves.

We aren't letting up. Musk is hated, like every Nazi.

the "mythical left" that he and the right wingers keeps fantasizing about think it exists in the us.

[–] b161@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 16 minutes ago

If there was a formidable left wing in the United States he would have been dangling upside down a long time ago.

[–] antonim@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Lots of people would like to "leave politics", as they find themselves under "vicious and unethical attacks" by politicians. However, those people's political existence was forced upon them, they didn't want to be a "political" object, especially not in the current landscape.

Musk instead took up his political role consciously, and used it to further attack and harm many who would prefer to be left in peace. He had the luxury to activate himself, commit far worse violence upon the people than he has been subjected to by the people, and when he realises he doesn't really like it, even though the issues he's facing are probably comparatively trivial, he (believes he) has the luxury to return to a more secluded, safe position.

It's really quite disgusting. And I fear he'll get away with it. But I am at least satisfied that his story (a supposed tech guru with his marketing bullshit and his comically immature behaviour) has damaged much of the aura of the modern technocapitalist elite.

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 1 points 1 minute ago

Oh, he won't leave. I don't believe it for a second. There's too much money and power. He is going to milk the insider connections for as long as he can. But he might adjust his position to try to get the pressure shifted to others.

[–] FlyingSpaceCow@lemmy.ca 6 points 47 minutes ago (1 children)

Any chance he got all the data and access that he actually wanted, so now he's good?

[–] some_dude@lemm.ee 3 points 17 minutes ago

Time to slink back into the shadows and re-emerge richer around the time of the next election.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 1 points 4 minutes ago

Wait, when did he enter into politics? All I see is him buying power?

[–] Echolynx@lemmy.zip 1 points 13 minutes ago

How long was that honeymoon period?

[–] AbraKadabra1993@reddthat.com 1 points 20 minutes ago

He realized that he pissed off the people that were buying his cars. Sorry my dude, this is your identity now. We will not forget.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 2 points 22 minutes ago

If only they were physical attacks. Musk is a vile piece of shit with incomprehensible wealth and he's squandering it. Worse, he's making the world worse. I want him to suffer. I want him removed from power and I want him to feel pain. I want every sad little man that would follow in his footsteps to see musk dangling from the gallows and think better.

[–] Lennnny@lemmy.world 9 points 1 hour ago

Whether he stays or goes, he'll still be a cunt.

[–] rational_lib@lemmy.world 1 points 5 minutes ago* (last edited 1 minute ago)

Also Musk: "This is the woke mind virus in action. Now, it is time for the mind virus to die."

[–] HarkMahlberg@kbin.earth 1 points 24 minutes ago

When he dies, I hope they at least do me the courtesy of marking the ditch they dump his body in so I know where to piss.

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 1 points 27 minutes ago

by all means

[–] PurpleSkull@lemm.ee 18 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

He's not leaving politics, he's at most changing vector. From being visible, to working more in the shadows.

[–] Flemmy@lemm.ee 3 points 1 hour ago

And all of X will follow his picture reel of shadowy activities.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 33 minutes ago

Good. It's working. Also you're not "in politics" you pathetic little bitch. You're just fucking around ruining peoples lifes so you can get some selfies in the Whitehouse and try to make your life even easier than it already is.

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 2 points 52 minutes ago

To be fair, from where he’s sitting, everyone is to the left, and any sane opinion is an attack on his point of view.

[–] jimjam5@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago

Get fucked musk for the rest of your days.

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Shit, he could do us all a favor and leave life.

[–] unphazed@lemmy.world 2 points 44 minutes ago

Look at Mcaffee, Epstein, and other narcissist rich assholes, they take care of themselves in the end

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 40 minutes ago

No one gonna mention that his contract was for a set time and he has to leave?

[–] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 1 points 43 minutes ago

We hate you.

[–] runiq@feddit.org 1 points 46 minutes ago

Tesla earnings call, tomorrow. That's the only reason he's saying that right now.

Is this his planned escape route after he's already gutted and skullfucked government programs that benefit lower income and working class people, environment, etc? Also after he's redirected government funding, tax money, to his businesses?

I'm not saying I have evidence there's truth to this, but I wouldn't be surprised. If he does go away, much of the public will forget really quickly. His shittiness and his obvious nazi salutes should never be forgotten.

[–] lupusblackfur@lemmy.world 113 points 5 hours ago (6 children)

Good. GTFO!!

Need more "attacks from the left" to help you decide?

Elonazi, you're a miserable product of an apartheid era that you've never let go. You've an inordinately inflated assessment of your own validity/value/intelligence that is based simply on your "net worth" with no actual physical or mental substance to back up that assessment. You're a fucking ugly deluded craphorn retarded dumbfuck that was gifted a "nest egg" from your family to start you on a journey of fucking all those around you and in business with you to further enrich yourself. You are the basest scum of steal-ionnaire possible.

I could probably continue, but that's all for this particular moment. Until I edit.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 78 points 5 hours ago

He already gave himself backdoor access to everything. Don't believe he's really gone.

He's gonna come back like a ransomware hacker, threatening to delete whole systems unless he gets what he wants.

[–] rebelsimile@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

I think the left should take musk at his word here actually. Take the W. Keep calling this stupid Nazi shitstain fraud exactly what he is.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

He's got to be extra delusional if he think the 'left' will stop criticizing his Nazi ass.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 20 points 3 hours ago

"The left is attacking me."

[–] oakey66@lemmy.world 65 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Still hope your businesses all get destroyed.

I wish.

He’s running because Trump is getting tired of him and he achieved his strategic goals of removing business regulation hurdles.

Blaming attacks from the left makes him look like a victim and play up the “evil leftists” angle so they can attack them more, while giving him a “safe” out.

[–] MOARbid1@piefed.social 12 points 3 hours ago

May he never have a moments peace in the remainder his life.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 30 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

[Gives Nazi salute.]

"Why are people attacking me? They must hate efficiency."

[–] Mog_fanatic@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Don't forgot he's been just incredibly big headed, disrespectful, and an insufferable jag off to pretty much every single person that doesn't worship the ground he walks on. How someone can be that mean and rude to just about everyone, then call foul when people don't like him and STILL have people confused why so many people act negatively towards him is so damn annoying.

[–] drdalek@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 hours ago

To co-opt the Right's terminology: what a fucking snowflake

[–] pomfegranate@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

As long as the damage persists, Im not done bitching

[–] Nyticus@kbin.melroy.org 16 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Until I see it realistically happen, he's staying. It is all theater.
