New World Disorder is pretty damn accurate. It used to be fun and sometimes, intimidating, to believe there's a huge threat of this new world order that'll take us by storm. Unsurprisingly, they're mostly rich fucks in high power who are just smart enough to know a gullible moron when they see once. Hence, Trump.

In a country under God it sure does encourage greed, gluttony, homicide on the fellow neighbour. A villain cannot maintain a clean game.

Godly Americans prefer their game dirty, and full of incest. Just like the Bible.

For wildly differing reasons, neither Trump nor Powell will ever do anything to help out regular people in the US. They both are looking to maintain the status quo of wealth concentrating in the 1%. Trump has no idea this is the case, of course. So I have trouble really worrying about this whatsoever, because fuck all those people. Now excuse me, whilst I increase my 401K contributions.

Well Powell has the "dual mandate" of price stability and low unemployment, so by definition its his job to maintain a stable environment. So that must be pretty interesting right now lol.

They both are looking to maintain the status quo of wealth concentrating in the 1%.

Powell is doing that. Trump however is working hard to concentrating the wealth of the oligarchs closest to him, which make up a lot less then 1% of the population.

Same mentality got us Trump's second term.

"New World Disorder" would be a sick band or song name.

Say, investor class, are Republicans still "good for the economy"?

On a esoteric fundamental level it is impossible for a crook to maintain order.

I see a title about uncertainty for stocks, I open the market and I see S&P500 is in the green. 🥲

[–] chilicheeselies@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

There are up days even in a depression. You have to look at trends over months (at the least)

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Both the Dow & S&P are down around 8% from this time last month. Dow’s down 7 YTD, and S&pis down 10. Green today, red for the year so far.

And it’s not like we don’t know what caused it.

[–] Sc00ter@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago

Seeing the stocks green on one day and saying anything about uncertainty is about as disingenuous as saying there can't be global warming because im holding a snowball

Stocks are all about timescales. Each hour, day, or week, stocks might go up or down for any number of reasons. Since trump took office, stocks are significantly down from where they were when he started.

If you look at different timescales, you'll always see some dips and bumps, and over long enough timescales it'll always be up. You need to pick the timescales that make sense for what you're trying to discuss.
