Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Elon Musk has exited the White House—physically, at least.

Donald Trump’s “special government employee” is no longer working within the DOGE offices as he prepares his exit from the Trump administration and focuses more on saving his floundering businesses from failure.

“Instead of meeting with him in person, I’m talking to him on the phone, but it’s the same net effect,” White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles told the New York Post in an interview discussing the Trump administration’s first 100 days.

Dude already stole all our data and destroyed every bureau of federal government that was in his way.

And helped destroy most of the others as well. He doesn't need to be there in person.

I want to see these fucking traitors hang.

“Instead of meeting with him in person, I’m talking to him on the phone, but it’s the same net effect,” White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles told the New York Post

So he's still doing what he's doing, just working remotely. Despite no other federal employees getting to work remotely.

There's a reason he installed Starlink at the Whitehouse and several other federal buildings

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 61 points 2 months ago (4 children)

you mean that wasn't to get around any security systems in place so he could upload data to 'remote' servers 'somewhere' outside of the government's control?

[–] negativenull@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

¿Por qué no los dos?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Outside of the US Government's control, you mean....

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago

Since its starlink its probably not for this purpose, but a commercial internet connection really isn't that uncommon; sometimes its for the TV in the lobby, or free guest WIFI; usually it's for systems that perform a necessary function, but would be crippled by network restrictions.

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Same thing.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 3 points 2 months ago

That’s to keep in touch with his handlers in Moscow

[–] Kichae@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Well, he's special! It's right there in his title! He's the specialest little employee. Yes he is! Yes he is!

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Exactly. I’ve written my Senators asking who will be keeping track of his communications. Every day he sends an email, message, or makes a call should count as another day worked.

I’d urge you all to do the same until we have a confirmed way to keep tabs on him.

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I'd write my House reps, but...

My House rep (left). The other one is just as awful, but not in the spotlight as much.

My senators are old money + age and coal baron who doesn't pay his bills.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

My Representative is trash. I’m stuck in a red district now and it’s rough.

[–] TheHalifaxJones@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Where does musk live on his day to day anyway? Would be a shame if we carried protests in front of his home.

[–] MaxPow3r11@lemmy.world 72 points 2 months ago

He walked in

stole what he wanted

& walked out.

Fuck this whole timeline.

[–] omgboom@lemmy.dbzer0.com 57 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Tesla is still fucked. Never forgive never forget

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 months ago

yup. starlink might be tanking, too. they're having to give away hardware and discount monthly rates these days.

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 31 points 2 months ago (1 children)

He doesn't need to be there in person to tug on Trump's strings

He can puppeteer him remotely now that he has done the fundamental damage

America, you guys are so fucked

I don't know how this shit will end, but I can't see anything other than it getting a whole lot worse in the immediate future, and probably for a generation

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

we're probably going to have a civil war of some variety. that's my prediction at least

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I hope not

As with all war, the most vulnerable will be hit hardest

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net -4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

as with our last civil war it will be our bottom tier of society pitted against itself. the sides will, as with last time, be truly horrifically and abjectly evil vs evil but in a way that the most marginalized have some hope of survival under. our only way to a better society afterwards will be to actually do reconstruction this time and not to just half ass it because for the second side they view profit in being gentle to the truly evil.

funny how everytime there's a big war about whether or not Ur-Fascism is bad, the winning side selects a handful of losers to protect and keep safe, and then those losers become the basis for a new fascist movement. see also: operation paperclip

I don't know if people are down voting because they don't understand your run on sentences, or because they disagree with controversial truth. We got Wikipedia pages with prideful profiles of full blown Nazis labeled as American heros, and people will still plug their ears and downvote.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 months ago

i think people don't get that that the union army wasn't uncomplicated good guys. the emancipation proclamation wasn't declared for moral reasons but for strategic ones. the goal of the union wasn't to free the slaves but to preserve the union.

[–] 60d@lemmy.ca 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I thought he works 120 hours per week as he expects from his employees. Loser.

He could do 40 hours for Tesla, 40 hours for DOGE, and 40 hours for SPACEX. I don't see any problem with that schedule. Lazy wimp.

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You forgot about Neuralink, xAI, The Boring Company...

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Dead Twitter too.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Elon finally found out about the Trump "touch" and how everything Trump touches turns to shit. Elon is not an innocent in this though.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Elon has the same magical touch.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It’s incredible just how dumb he is. Like, dude, just throw daddy’s blood money at these startups and let them do their thing. But no, he has to get involved for ego reasons and absolutely wrecks them in the cringiest way possible.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 4 points 2 months ago

I think you could draw some correlation ratio between his companies' times of success and his involvement. An inverse ratio.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

That’s what happens when you have exceptionally low self esteem and endless amount of money.

[–] Rubanski@lemm.ee 8 points 2 months ago

The Mierdas Touch

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I’ve been waiting for this to happen for months. That’s how it always goes with t.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ripped the country apart, now proceeding to fuck up twitter some more.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

What'd be do to Twitter lately?

[–] j0ester@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago
[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 5 points 2 months ago

Elon walks into a china shop, destroys everything in sight. Says "oops, better do that over the phone from now on", walks out again.

[–] SpaceShort@feddit.uk 4 points 2 months ago

Who's the one actually in charge now?

[–] proxydark@szmer.info 4 points 2 months ago

But still they are in contact ... just using phone .. .so . Nothing is changed :/

[–] rottenmummy@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago

Want it to be optimistic, but I am very skeptical

[–] Prior_Industry@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

"New phone, who dis?"
