I'm horrified.

I was hoping that the last shot was going to be that of a screen with a windows installer running.

But like, Vista or something

[–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

I think Windows 11 would be funnier

[–] 4_degrees@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

I thought it was earnestly bad and then it just kept going... it's like a body horror film or something

It's always a pleasure to watch a professional at work.

I had to stop myself from down voting this

I applaud your self-restraint.

1/10 didn’t even secure cpu or second ram stick with hammer

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

That's ok, he probably taped them in later on.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I like my parts to fit toolessly when I'm done, so I use my router to dovetail the joints and secure them with gorilla glue in case the joints expand.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 week ago

Now start it up. I dare you.

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

[–] marker2002@midwest.social 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How dare you make me watch that again!

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

I didn't watch it the second time, just noticed the fact.

perfect customer experience

[–] papertowels@mander.xyz 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh god I just realized those white dots between the CPU and the cooler are probably those adhesive Velcro dots.

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

If you hole punch the CPU to get it to fit, you don't have to worry about it overheating....

[–] tyler@programming.dev 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So you totally can put thermal paste in the pins like that. Everything else….

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Really? If it's conductive, it'll short every pin. If not, it won't connect CPU to motherboard?

I figure you're probably correct, but I don't understand.

[–] L7HM77@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

There was a video I watched several years ago, no idea how to find it again, where this guy fucked up a motherboard / CPU with thermal paste to see if you actually can add 'too much paste.' Directly underneath the pins, wayyy too much on top, extra around the socket for good measure, smashed it all together, and the thing just... boots normally...

Kinda makes sense tho, every tube of paste I've used was marked as nonconductive, and the CPU socket should be designed such that carbon buildup is scraped from the pins when reseating, which would clear away the paste and allow good contact.

[–] tyler@programming.dev 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

https://youtu.be/t52UW5bXkbs

But yeah thermal paste just isn’t conductive and the pressure supplied to the pins is high enough to still get contact.

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 2 points 1 week ago

You could hurt yourself, or worse: damage your computer.

LOL, I like this guy.

That makes sense. Thanks!

[–] blarth@thelemmy.club 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This actually made me tear up.

[–] irelephant@programming.dev 3 points 1 week ago

Tears of joy I'd assume :)

Bro forgot to mount that atx board in his micro itx case with a nail gun and a pair of shears.
