I switched to pie fed mainly because of the options including one to not blur nsfw as a lot of folks bar for nsfw is like way lower than mine.
Can piefed be accessed through voyager? I heard people talking about it as a good way to avoid all the tankies, but I couldnβt find it on the instance search within voyager.
if your using an interface then the options may not matter I think since the app would control visuals. Again I think.
This has really made me lose faith in a defederated system like this.
@Anyone: please let me know if I'm wrong about these and if there's a solution, but as far as I can see:
- I can't export my account (most importantly all the posts and comments I've saved).
- It's difficult to find where a server is based.
- Some instances seem to be solo hobby projects. I don't want to pick another instance that is at risk of being killed.
The lack of account mobility is really a huge problem with the fediverse, you lose all your stuff if you move to another instance.
You're being down voted, but I feel you. It's why I picked one of the largest instances when I joined, despite what other Lemmings tend to tell people to do. Picking a small instance is a bad idea because they die out like that. I've seen several fairly significant smaller instances die out at this point. I don't want to wake up and my account suddenly vanished one day because the host forgot about it.
The only difference is the administration of the instance (their activeness, beliefs and how they choose to moderate), what instances they federated or defederated with (like hexbear and lemmygrad), and what features they've chosen to implement or not (like downvotes). For casual use, it probably doesn't make a difference.
I'm just now realizing my primary account is here on .ee as well. I have one with lemmy.one and midwest.social but I'll probably make a new one somewhere else like dbzero unless they're still federated with hexbear since .one doesn't use downvotes and I have constant connection issues with midwest.social.
