The mod of https://lemmy.world/c/songaweek has no intention of building this former reddit sub. His only lemmy post is "the community is located elsewhere". He is instead using squabbles, https://squabbles.io/s/songaweek. I loved r/songaweek and would like "take over" as mod of songaweek. I'd love to know if there is a way of doing this. If I am asking in the wrong place please let me know.

Hi I am a co-admin here on lemmy.world. Have you tried to contact the mod yourself? Maybe he wouldn't mind handing it over to you or adding you as a mod.

Edit: I contacted the current moderator. Please get in touch with him yourself and try to work something out. We would prefer it if things like this are handled between users.

What is stopping you from creating this community on a different instance?

You can either go to !moderators@lemmy.world or send an email to info@mastodon.world - DM is actually the worst option as we tend to get a lot of DMs.

Thank you!

Prior to a DM, mebbe trying https://lemmy.world/c/moderators is smart. Several of the mods there are instance admins, and petitioning to run an unmoderated community seems at least adjacent to the topic there.

Wow, he locks the Community on the instance to advertise a Community from the outsite ๐Ÿ˜ณ

(Not OP)

On one level, I get it - It's all part of the exit from Reddit, and each community flees to somewhere else. Most went to Lemmy, but not all (for various reasons). Especially for a small community, it makes sense to have everyone aligned on where they want to move to. Fracturing that group can kill something that was already niche.
